I'm interested if Volvo has fixed the problem with frost on the side windows when it's cold (like -20c) + it was leaking cold air between the pedals. Only way to keep the frost on was fan on max and that would just and just keep them clean.

I have heard the same as Scania Man about DAF, problems with the engine. Heard many that has been changed around 400-500 000km
+ the ones i been in I got the same feeling as corolla from 88, plastic, rattle her and there. 0 quality feeling, even an Iveco felt better
Man is nice to drive according to the guy I spoke with but he wouldn't remember the last week he could finish without a visit to the to the shop, that company got five MAN and all the same. My self are very impressed how the MAN feels in the cab, the button feels like they came from a a8 or a 7 series, it feels just right and so nice.
MB is nice but big complains that they are thirsty and I think directly on a an early Sprinter when I sit there, and that's not a good thought.

Scanias biggest problem is probably the 480, it's just crap. The v8s on the other hand works nice, the biggest problem we had with them is water on the piston, could cause big damage if not handed right. All 580s has between 900 000 to 1,5 million now and still nothing done to them other than service. No problems with the 620 either, the one with most km has a bit over 600 000km. Not going to complain about the build quality here. But the bed, why those it have to be in so many different sizes??? How hard is it to make it rectangular without some extra curves and bits you have to build together before you go to sleep. I don't care for an extra cm here and there, I have never seen a sheet that has been formed like that either.
I wouldn't care if it would be say 70cm if it just would be rectangular, your supposed to sleep there not rolling around

Edit: I don't think that like someone supposed there would be more conventional s if the lengthways would be changed. The ferry cost is per meter and there is a lot of them. I for example have been on 9 ferry's since Sunday to Thursday this week. 1-2m extra for nothing would ad up huge cost's

    Thanks for asking!

No bud, but I'll take it EZ for the weekend.

No idea man, about the matress. I've got one of those "memory foam" 3"thick pads from wall mart and so far it works for me.

it make difference it is easier to add 50cm on trailer than on tractor this would increase wheelbase and with longer wheelbase it really make different in maneuverability .....

i dont see any reasons for larger cabs maybe add 10cm or something like new mercedes which is now full length allowed , even my home bed is not larger than 3ft ,

my father used to sleep for years ~12-13 in trucks without bed ,,,on seats , or in trucks with just resting equipment , i was sleeping few times on mercedes board which usually come in extended day cab and you can put bed on it ( i have it) , that board is just covered with leather so there is no sponge.....it is 15-16inch wide .....bed above it is about 24-25

400kg for 4x2 and 410kg for 6x2/6x4 single frame +47kg if double frame on 3axle

i agree on that no reason , our drivers mainly come home twice per week

A normal sized man weighs between 70-85kg, over a 95kg and you should start thinking what you are doing if your are not an athletic or heavy worker (not sure if that's the word to use, meaning builder, forest worker....) (sorry if I insulted someone but that's my opinion)
No I'm not motionless in the bed but why would I need a bigger bed for that??? I normal sleep on my stomach, meaning fewer motions than if you sleep on the back.

Scania man probably knows, I don't but that bed in the 4 series behind the seat, that's just perfect size + it's a thin mattress meaning you are better rested and you haven't destroyed your spine when you wake up

If you give me roads like this,
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IBzeNFFraJ4
and wouldn't leave the house for even double that.

I agree with you on that one! Too many "Fat #######" and "Fat Albert" kinda guys driving trucks here!

But still, if you think that the thing they call "bed" in those Scanias (if you've seen the picture) is quite enough, then why even bother with sleeper cabs? You can drive a regular day cab Scania and go to sleep lying across the top of the dashboard. It's just as wide and curvy as the thing they call "bed" in behind the seats!

And look! Guys like Icee in Finland could save even more money on ferry rides cause the truck would be an extra 2'3"(70cm) shorter.

No offence taken! I ain't the offendable kind!

But listen man! I'm 6'4"(193cm) high and weigh some 242#(110kg) and work in heavy haul, rigging and trapping and all that. I don't consider myself unfit, but I need more then 2'3"(70cm) of bedspread.
3'3"(99cm) it's good and 3'6"(107cm) of bedspread it's just perfect.

It would be interesting to take a US truck and do the interior up to the euro standards . I must admit the sound and weather insulation over here is a joke.
And a US Cabover could have a 70-80" sleeper over here with a single drive and a steering tag . Something to think about.

    Scania man Thanks this.

ferries are very expensive and this added length would eat big part of what you earn

i am 178cm high ( 5ft 10inch) and have between 73-80kg 160-176lbs ( depending on how much i drink) and i feel for myself that i even dont need largest cab but mid roof

our cabs are quite good used since manufacturers learn how to use space on smart way cabs are wider when i stand in my shoes on carpet on engine tunnel on scania topline and raise my hands up and i can barely touch ceiling

here is bunk 73-90cm wide fast and simple ....

if i am buying new truck now for long haulage i would not chose largest cab since it brings more negative than positive things , here largest cab generally chose only people who drive really far .....some even from frankfurt am main to chinese border
