I never said I don't need any living space but I can't understand why everything has to be so big.
Just like cars today, 2ton for what? Good I miss those light rwd with a small 2-2,5 r6 in the front, today a sport car maker is proud if there car only weighs 1,600kg. Have an -02 3 series sedan today, it's on the bigger side for my taste, I would prefer a touring over a sedan because it looks better and it uses it area much better than a stupid sedan
I don't see the need for a house to be 200m2 when I do just fine with 120m2 with a lot less cleaning, work, heating cost... I can go on, why do everything has to be so enormous today???
My complaints about the bed was the it's not rectangular, remove those 20cm and make it straight....
+ I wouldn't save anything my self, Im just a worker, not a owner.
Friend doing local work with an old FM (day cab volvo) do prefer to sleep over the seats in his truck when drunk over his own bed in the house.![]()

Actually a longer trailer requires more space in a turn then even a longer combination with two shorter trailers.
A longer trailer is easier to reverse then a shorter trailer, but in any case the 2'-3' of extrea wheelbase on the tractor wouldn't affect as much the turning radius as 2'-3' of extra trailer.
Anybody that has a good experience driving tractor&trailer/s cobinations would know this!
And, ya, ya, My father and your father and our fathers, back in the old days drove fully loaded trucks across mountains with 230bhp, no jakes, two stick tranys, no adequate heatting in cold weather and with wind blowing allover the cab, and in deserts with no AC in 120* weather, and no sleeper whatsoever, catching every now and then few minutes of sleep crouched over the steering wheel or sleeping in a hammock under the trailer, and all that............
But, since you agree with no reason for a more spacious cab and a bigger bed, then, what would be the reason to go back to that?
And the extra 410kg for the extra space in a Longline Scania it's not a bad exchange at all, actually I was expecting an even bigger increase in tare weight. In 99,9% of loads I haul 410kg + or - doesn't affect one iota of revenue.
Anyway, here's my two cents!jonboy29 and Scania man Thank this. -
Not a bad idea at all!
It'll probably take few greenbacks to do it, but really, a frame from the days when they had quality, a custom cab well done and improved with a little euro ideas, a pre EGR Cummins or kittyCat and a driveline to match the rest of the truck, and man oh mam.......it'l be the last truck I'd be driving! -
here T cab conventional scania with same length as longine need hell of a space to get in and out of some places
there is many small companies with very small yards, small loading terminals where truck sometimes need 15minutes of maneuvering to enter
here are roads where i live , this is flat part of country , when you go more on south than roads become very challenging

imagine how it looks like to climb truck over there......
that was less than 10years ago
i did not say that we dont need cab at all but just that we dont need bigger cabs than current are
well larger problem for longline was it was limiter build in very small number , one from belgium was catch in fire , 15-20 more custom are builded , also additional length , for those who use shorter trailers this 400kg is too much (tippers , bulk, tanks.....)
cab itself is 321kg more than topline rest go on longer chassis and side skirts
T cab was 120kg +chassis .....Scania man Thanks this. -
98989 no 400kg is nothing. That wont do anything for the money. If 400kg depends if your making money then it's your fault driving for those prizes.
Scania man Thanks this. -
+there is plenty of places here where tractor and semitrailer cant get at all,,, only straight truck+ drawbar trailer

Big and comfy is an AMERICAN thing! I don't expect you to understant that!
The beauty about America is that you can drive a shoebox car like a yougo or a big SUV like a chevy suburban or a hummer, or like we like it here in the western states, a big dually pickup truck. It's your individual choice of preference. Nobody should force anyone to drive a big nor a small car. Same goes for houses. You can live in a 10'X20' cell or in a 6000 square ft mansion(if you've got the green). That's what freedom is my friend! -
hey icee maybe not where you live with your 50t 400kg +- is not problem, but here.....
yes it matters , i can often see trailers without supporting legs , operators use car tire fix kit to fool police ....(our law says you must have spare tire or something for fixing tire )
too light things like berger trailers dont work here so we cut anything unnecessarily if payload is critical thing
since we often deal with primal raw materials like construction materials, gravel stones, sand, steel, wood, planks, grain....... and other things we almost always have full weight than your dead weight very affect to how much you will earn
light is particularly necessary to bulk segment.......you must see serrus walking floor trailers with 6400kg , benalu tipper 50m3 with 4700kg .....Scania man Thanks this. -
Y'all got to get your heads reexamined the way you're driving over there!
I'd understand if it was some organized rally event where only professional race drivers were involved,
but racing like that in traffic, amongst the public, well, I think that it is very imprudent!
Anyway, is that road in the picture truck route?
It looks like a back alley in a residential area!
I've seen plenty of skinny pathways like that, but they weren't meant to be traveled by big trucks.
