I cant see any differense of design in drivelines of US and EU trucks.
And do not forget that US and EU truck may share axles, transmissions, center bearings
Yesterday I saw made in Odessa tank trailer with looking like a camekneck suspention adn SAF (Holland) axles. -
@Pablo-UA Tell me Pablo , have you ever found the thread on the stub of SAF axles strips the first time you loosen the main nut.
We tried a few SAF axles but have had this issue on a few of them.
They have replaced 6 axles under warranty but now I don't know if I like them.
We have some that have had no issues but for the amount of SAF axles we have we have had too many issues.
We have a few BPW and they have been good,
Most of the axles you get here are based on the Proppar design made by many manufactures.
They may not be the best but they are reliable ,cheap , easy to maintain and you can get parts at Mcdonalds or Starbucks.
I'm going to standardize on them for that reason.
The SAF dealers were good to me and gave me good discounts but I'm not sure.
What are your thoughts. -
There are SAF axles with lefthand thread on left side of axle to prevent loosing.
BPW are lightweight but not so strong as SAF. May crack on bumpy roads.
WHat axle is the best? I do not know. I had Meritor, SAF, Fregauf, Rockwell.... But IMO BPW is the best ballance of maintanace cost and quality.
Really I had fauly hubnut. Yes, BPW, but wheel did not go to oncoming lane, becouse of disk brakes -
Yes , perhaps we had a bad batch as the overall quality looks good but I was disappointed by the number of axles SAF we had to replace.

The driveshaft is there. You just can't see much of it because of the air dumped out if the suspensions. Aired up to go down the road, you would see the rest of it.OLDSKOOLERnWV Thanks this.

That was 1970. Most of the newer ones are flat floors, 12.7 is an easy 550 hp. 3406 is a monster. Fuel mileage is actually better. I prefer em and love and own em. Mine are air ride, easy to park, and I can alway see what's in front of me, unlike my 379 car hauler. I can't see the first three cars with my seat down.
