ZF makes it and DAF and Iveco will be the first ones to use it. And I-shift is not even close to perfect.

I have an 88 freightliner C.O.E and i rather drive that truck any day. Now don't get me wrong i do also have an 88 freightliner conventional as well. And it drive ok in all
but when i need more room for turning or clearence. The cab over does beteer my opinion.

I understand why americans don't like COEs when looking at the inside of the US COE. It's very hard to move inside the cab when the dashboard is around the drivers seat and there's a very high engine hump. I also heard they have very uncomfortable ride because of very short front springs. Conventionals have also short springs but when you are sitting further back the soft frame of the US trucks propably flexes and gives some comfort.

You wouldn't have the same acceleration forces from bumps on the road when you are stitting behind the front wheels, euro trucks have longer springs which help but our cabs are fully floating on 4 point suspension which make our trucks smooth and comfortable by comparison

''modern'' US based COE like freightliner argosy and kenworth k200 still have 2 point cab suspension with rigid front

high motor tunnels of US COE was caused to the fact they had different engines choises, one of them was DD 71 or 92 series engines, despite an v configuration its a very tall engie

There are no new US cabovers, exept of 9800i and Argosy, anyway, trucks of the last century, so no reason to compare old US cabover with new EU tructors. European trucks were brutal in 70-s too

    not so much

worst in terms of comfort eu trucks were first 4axle tippers T ride rear with 15springs at least one foot of them

rigid double chassis , and close front axles with 1500mm axle distance with exceptionally short springs

i have one of them with only 1.5m long springs on front 12 multi leaf springs per axle on each side rigid as hell

only worst thing is 8x6 or 8x8 with shorter cab.....
