How do the euro Volvo trucks compare with the U S versions? Must admit paccar is coasting over here. They need to upgrade lots of things. Don't see cabovers making a comeback any time soon over here. But I don't get out much!

Listen, if you have the cab(case that's the hard thing to manufacture), then anyone can rearrange and modify things in the sleeper. Heack, interior customization is done all the time......no problems there.

A DAF is just as expensive when new, and resale value in this country is scrap value and there's absolutely no backup service, In this country anyway! We both know what I think of DAF so what are my options on a 7 year old truck? Not saying I would buy a truck so old but I've often been glad of the resale value! Can't be a Volvo at that age unless I'm gonna spend money on it, def can't be a daf cos it won't make 7 years old, iveco well..., mercedes aren't as good as they used to be, Still plenty of 20-25 year old scanias workin our harsh roads everyday, So what's the options? That's why they hold their value!

they are not that expensive here

r440 highline egr opc and retarder with all equipment you need except side skirts cost 76500

g420 highline opc without retarder is 68000

similar tgx 18440 xlx is 76000

volvo is very cheap here fh460eev globetrotter with all equipment except retarder ( all means alloy rims full air deflectors xenon lights all safety features , leather seats , right turnable seat some additional lights inside and many more) below 90000

since daf have very weak market share here they offer fully equipped 105 ssc 460 for 75000

i dont look at iveco but they are around 65-70

and i dont count renault as truck , they sell only about 10trucks per year but they are cheap....they offered to us

    magnum 480 eev

automated gearbox and stronger engine brake 1225L fuel capacity

    some table fridge ....

for 1170€ with 60 months and 5% deposit

    premium 460

same equipment for 1075€ and even with this i havent seen any of them on road ....

and they would buy it for 10% of value when new

    Listen!
I don't care if the truck builders here in America won't invest in developing and producing COE trucks because of poor sales and very limited demand! If we had that ########## "freedom and liberty" that everyone's talking about, then the ########## government would get the hell autta the way with the stupid legislations and allow the importation of COE trucks from the EU for those few people that desire to have and drive good, well built, reliable and proven COE trucks. Where do you put the fact that there's allot of applications that require a shorter wheelbase highly manuverable truck? Yes, right here in the good-oll-US of A!

The Volvo engine does seem to be different alright, I couldn't fault them here, sold both of mine with nearly 1m on the clocks and absolutely no issues only they kept blowing headlamp bulbs, small problem tho! Paccar engines are the worst pile I've ever owned, 1st one died at 230,000kms and the next one at 540,000kms, both were under contract maintenance to DAF/PACCAR and they wouldn't honour the warranty, im not the only case either, far from it in fact, try sell a used DAF in this country now, you'd be better off scrapping it! so the next person that tells me paccar are a good engine I'm gonna punch sense into them ! Lol
