One suggestion, if you don't like the trucks that you make a living with then move back across the pond, and quit bad mouthing everything to do with American trucking. It you don't like it, get out.

I have a 236" wheelbase day cab. For a couple of reasons I can put a 16' foot dump body on it. And I've got the frame and suspension for it. And it looks good.
As for the money like the saying you can't take it with you. Not everyone is the hyper mile type.

    WHAT TOOK YOU SO LONG???

I was expecting this kind of reaction. So predictable!

It don't matter if there's ways of doing things better and easier, you've got to stick with what you know! Right?

Yeah, because anyone person controls the companies building trucks, if anything it is controlled by the consumer, which happens to be large companies that buy cookie cutter trucks. If it were all owner operators that bought the majority of the trucks the quality would change, yet most keep the trucks they have and keep them in good working condition.

Demand controls supply, so until there is a demand for a better quality product it will not change, and as kind as you have companies buying 2000+ trucks at a time it will not change.

Also, since when does what every one else drive have anything to do with what you drive, if you want full lockers and a better suspension go order a new truck with these things, that is all it take. Just have to know what boxes to check.

    Listen man!
i don't care if you have a 536" wheelbase day cab or no cab. It don't bother me at all what other people drive. I didn't say those things about sitting on the floor and shifter levers higher then the space needle cause it "bothers me" in some way. Not at all. I was only trying to make a point. The point being made is that if there,s freedom to go to all sorts of usles and unreasonable extremes just for what is perceived to be "Kool Looking", then what the ....... Is the problem letting other people that prefer other kinds of trucks for reason like aplication functionality, quality, design, or just pure preference??? Why is it that you can't import a truck from somewhere else if it fits your wants better then what's available here? Who's pantys are all up in knots if someone likes to drive an European Cabover on American highways?
    What bothers whom exactly???

Ya, for some reason no one can import an EU truck and use it here, cause someone has a problem with what certain people prefer to drive.

You made a valid point. Agree with your observation about the issue of bad quality.

    Ok, I'll check boxes:
I'll go to PACCAR and start checking boxes.
DAF xf 105 space cab, maybe a little bigger sleeper if possible, if not, that's ok.
I want those drive axles like in that picture that the guy from euro posted. Lifteble axle in tandem drive, imagine that, use it only when needed, other ways go single drive and save fuel. By the way, they come standard with full locking an all.
How about that air ride suspension that lets you control individually per axle the load bearing and from inside the cab and also the ride height preference via a remote controller in the cab or outside if you need to level the rig out for loading.
How about a synchro shift gear box and a darn air assisted clutch pedal cause I'm sick of having to almost stand up and put my entire weight on that thing. ....... Eaton,s easy pedal.....my foot!

These are just few things that I doubt I'll find any darn box on the kw or pete spec options papers.

Dude, I'm not trying to be combative, but let's be honest, we don't even have the darn options available even if you're willing to pay extra.

You say "quality would change"... True, but quality is been changing none stop all the time in one direction, and that's >LOW<.
Instead of kiping the good things of yesterday and incorporating the best of what's available in the etire world today, they're kiping only the worse stuff from the past and making it even worse yet with the worse ideas of today.

The kind of change in the trucks and trucking er're getting nour days is just like the "hope and change" promisess......... I wonder how much those that believed that crap like it today?

The same reason we aren't able to get the diesel cars, they have found a way to keep them out. I wonder could a truck be imported without an engine, i don't know if that would clear things up or not.

I know the technology hasn't change much over here, but build quality has changed a lot, the speed at which the trucks are built plays into the poor quality.
