I learned to drive a truck on cabover. Then the first truck I owned was on, A 9670 Cornbinder. I also drove European Cabovers, Volvos and Mercedes, when I worked in Iraq, though they were pretty basic models. They did pull those 100,000k loads very well.
I don't see them catching on here too much though. Cabovers went away here because the drivers didn't like them and were leaving companies that had them in droves. Companies found that being able to advertise an all conventional fleet had an easier time finding drivers. The reason for a cabover to begin with was to be able to pull a longer trailer and stay within the total length laws off the time. When those laws changed the cabover was on the way out.

I agree 100%. I might also add most of the docks all across the US were not built to handle these longer rigs. Hince all the incidents/accidents we all read about.

i owned this one , and I liked it , was very good ride and very handy backing into tight docks.
The set back axle and air bag suspension was nice .
Plus, once they changed the length laws , you could buy these for almost nothing .
Same cat or Cummins engine , same Eaton fuller transmission , same Rockwell axles as a similar age 379 or W900 but 1/4 the price.

smiled all the way to the bank. Paid $16k for this COE and made $5k a month after all my expenses. My friends that owned trucks bought 379 Pete’s , I bought a 7 acres and a cabin in the mountains with the same money .
I still have the cabin. …

The 9670 I owned before this one , not so much. It rode terrible .

I like the Scania longline. Never driven any European cab overs. But sleepers are 2 small for NA market unless regional.
Wish KW would bring the cab overs back
Would like the K100 double bunk again

My first tractor was a White 7000. I never took any photos of it. It looked a lot like this one. It also was the truck I was driving when I busted my left knee getting out of it in Denver!

For driving around New England, sure. Coast to coast teaming, doing 75 MPH across Texas or Wyoming? You might have a driver retention problem.........
