Andy,
I'm going for the "local" runs as well. I was told that they are really busy down my way which might work to my benefit. I'll see you in the morning, and hopefully be on the road by early afternoon. -

I am happy to say that last night after I was told to wait til morning I got a call from billy to run over to lock haven and pickup a trailer, bring it back to the yard. My load today goes to carneys point, nj and picks up in mountain top, pa. The thing I like is everyone knows your name, not by truck number.
Hitman Thanks this. -
It seems like you guys get alot of phone calls from dispatch. How do you get the customers address and route/directions? Do these guys use Qualcomm?
-
They normally have the directions and routing to get there but if not we call. We don't use qualcomm, we use peoplesnet which I think is much better.
-
I was just told today that I'll be going to Ca. tomorrow. I'll let you know after I see dispatch tomorrow.

Our fuel list is TA and some Petro's. We have select TA's that we fill up at and the rest is 50 gallons only. For instance, from Pittston to Orlando works like this, leave Pittston full of fuel, fill up at the TA in Kenly, NC. Then 50 gallons at the Petro 2 in Kingsland, GA. this will get you into FL, and out, then fill up either at Lake Park, GA or Commerce, GA. The TA south of Jacksonville is a stop that we can fill up at but I elect to bypass that rat hole of a truck stop that was a dive 25 years ago and still is. You will be given an additional fuel card that is to be used only in emergencies at any truck stop that takes comdata. In 9 months I have not had to use the emergency card yet. The fuel list works just fine.

Congratulations and good luck. Any questions just ask.

We use Peoplenet. Directions are from dispatch. We have the same customers so after the fiirst time it becomes second nature. I have been to a certain customer for my Florida load 25+ times for both pickup and delivery, I guess I can get there while sleeping. Phone calls from dispatch usually happen on Thursday and Friday. I spoke to dispatch today for the first time all week, I've been preplanned all week, but today wasn't any different than any other Thursday, I got a phone call from Louie wanting to know if I needed to go back home, I told him it was up to him, two hours later I got a call from him saying I was going back to California.Hitman and The Challenger Thank this.
