Ok, my health insurance issue is finalized. In keeping up with fair and equal reporting, I feel obligated to show what I am afforded, and what I am taking......you all decide for yourselves.

    Driver Cost per month.....

    2012 Health & Dental..........old premium................ $778.65 p/m
    2013 Health & Dental..........new premium..............$1005.65 p/m
Cigna Health & Dental not through the company........$639.00 p/m

I went with the Cigna for the wife and I. Comparing apples to apples, the one I am going with is also a PPO, Same $5000 deductible, for individual but $7500 for family as opposed to $15,000. Co-insurance is $0, as opposed to 10,000/30,000. Free generic meds as I have now. Our wellness medical is much better. Plus the out of network is 1/3 the cost of my company plan. That's just the major factors. The dental is the same. In fact it's pretty good. I just completed about $4200 worth of dental work and my cost was less than $500.

I don't fault the company one bit about medical coverage. At least they offer something. In fact, for an individual it comes to $255 p/m with dental which in today's health coverage debacle is pretty good. It's just a shame that it takes so much time researching and deciding which way to go.

Sitting at the Petro in Bordentown. I got to Belle Glade at 3pm Saturday, and was loaded and rolling at 4:45. When I got there there was about 30 trucks waiting to load. Apparently my load of garbage was ready. I was backed right in and loaded. Every other week I'm there it's 8-10 hours of waiting. I got to the reciever at 11:30 last night, backed in and went to sleep. I was awaken at 6am to the fork lift going in and out of my trailer, and was empty at 7:30. I spent the day here and will leave about 5am to drive the 130 miles to the terminal, I'm due for a service and need to get my alternator belt replaced, it's showing some dry rot and uneven wear.

Let's see if I can inject some life into this thread.

It is official. I am rejoining Calex. I will be starting on February 18th and am looking forward to it immensely. Looking back at the past year, I realize that I shouldn't have left in the first place. It was a hasty decision, and one I regretted more times than not. I did work for some good people on this last job, and have nothing bad to say about them, but the run got very boring from time to time, and I found myself yearning again for the open road. What I did find out though is that even the best dedicated run (which is what I was doing) can go bad at any time, and when it does, and your company has all their "eggs in one basket", you end up sitting at home and not working.

I can't wait to get rolling again!

That's right. We have a couple drivers that use to work here that tried coming back and were told no. We also have some that are still here that I'm pretty sure won't be welcomed back if they should leave.

Got home at 6pm on Thursday. Was empty and back home at 9am yesterday. Had my final dental work completed and now have clean, shinny teeth to go along with 2 crowns and root canals.

I load later today in Miami going to Cranbury NJ for Monday morning. My lettuce load cancelled on Thursday so I got this load of string beans to pick up.

There was another major screw up with my pay again this week. I handed in a round trip envelope into dispatch a week ago Wednesday to pay this week, then I scanned in my next round trip this past Monday because I wasn't going to make it back to the terminal in time for the magical cut off time of noon. I scanned it in at 9:30 am, called in at 9:45 to verify it was received then left it alone figuring payroll has it along with the one I handed in 5 days earlier. On Thursday morning after getting the email that our payroll was posted I went online to check it out. Low and behold I was paid for the round I scanned and not the one I left at the terminal 8 days earlier. The phone calls started immediately. Message after message was left and no reply. Not happy, in fact, just a little pissed off to be honest.

I was told two weeks ago that I missed payroll cut off. I didn't accept that answer then, and now I can't wait to see what line of bull I get to hear on Monday. Here we go again, I need to be 100% accountable in everything I do with this job, but it seems no one is accountable for what they do. I know they read this blog so let me be very diplomatic about this pay issue, I do my job and do it very well, all I expect is my check every week and correct. Nothing less and nothing more! Please folks, let's do the right thing with my pay, I'm not the only one with this problem, ACCOUNTABILITY!!!!!!!!!!!!
    Be safe all, God Bless!

I drive with pride and professionalism and treat everyone I work with and for with respect and politeness. That goes for the customers I deal with as well. Our owner ran a load of water yesterday and we were talking as we were unloading. He said he was sorry to see me leave, but he understood completely why I was. Said he'd not hesitate to hire me back. I don't plan on it, but it's nice to know he thinks that highly of me.

I like the fact that John tells it straight even though he knows his company reads his thread, he doesn't put calex up on a pedastool trying to recruit drivers he just tells the facts, like them or not.

one of the few threads I follow in the company discussion...
