yes how someone is ALWAYS stirring the pot to cause crap.

He may be stirring the pot, but I kind of agree with him on this one. I don't think I'd want to lease a 9+ year old truck that potentially is close to or over 1 million miles on the clock. Perhaps it's a good deal for the right driver in the right situation, but it seems like it's a huge risk.

All I can say about a L/P deal from this company, or any other one out there is that it would never work for me. I don't care if the company offering the deal has 9 year old trucks or brand new ones, I would never get involved with one, or become an O/O for that matter. Not knocking anyone who is involved with it, just not for me. I've done rather well as a company driver for 33 years, in fact it afforded me the opportunity to have my 3,000 sq. ft home built 9 years ago, send 2 kids through college and allowed me to start my used car lot back in 1998 that I kept open until I sold it in 2009 for a seven figure nest egg. All I have to do is see what my company truck costs on a weekly basis, between fuel, repairs, and breakdowns along with the whole litany of associated expenses and head aches, just doesn't do it for me. Couple that with a mechanical piece of equipment that all you get after it's paid for is a truck worth pennies on the dollar is enough for me to drive someone else's truck. I remember back in 1974 when I started college, one of my professors told us in my business economics class to always try and invest in an appreciating business, not a depreciating one. As much as I wanted to be an O/O, I saw what I could make on a net return outside of owning a truck and that's what I ran with.
Now back to our regular scheduled show. My wife got all my food prepared and whatever else I needed all while taking care of her uncle that's in the hospital. I'm off next weekend so I have just a little incentive to get through this week. I'll be leaving around 3:30 today to start this horror show called lettuce.Cyanide Thanks this. -
I pretty much agree John, and yours is probably the best post of the whole L/P discussion. That aside, have a safe trip north this week, and I hope that you don't have to go through the same long delay that you did last week on that lettuce delivery.

Thanks Steve. I'm hoping the same thing. Rob told me what went on with you and the shop. Not that it will help, but that's the main issue that has chased alot of good drivers away. I'm glad you are back doing what you were.

Thanks John. It was a bummer of a situation, and I certainly wish the events had transpired differently. I just wasn't happy about the way it went down. I only hope that mine, and a few others, experience "rights the ship" so that it doesn't happen to another driver in the future.

I am not stirring the pot believe me.Just shaking my head at the L/P deal they put together. Calex has went downhill in a huge way. I am sure alot of people would agree. There is not enough bleach and disinfectant to spray on the inside of one of those 2004 disaters to make me take such a huge risk. I am all to familiar with that equipment. But i am all ears to hear someones Calex L/P sucess story.

I for one will be the first to say that righting the ship here doesn't take a rocket scientist. But, over the last year or so things have really gone down the crapper.
