I worked there back in 2010........ for 2 weeks. I told them if I stayed I would risk ruining my CDL. I went over my 14 almost everyday. No preplan. Crappy equipment. Safety was an absolute joke. I went down the street to J.B. Hunt. Quit on Friday, was in orientation on Monday. Been here almost 7 years. Best move I ever made. Calex was 40 cpm when I left. Their craigslist ad now states 36 cpm. WOW!

Ok. First Calex is still 40 cpm if you do the northeast regional (local) work. For true regional (east of the rockies) and west coast (produce turns) it's 36 cpm.

The local drivers and the coast drivers do the best, mileage-wise. I struggled running regional, rarely topping 2,000 most weeks.

The equipment is good. About 90% new, or late model, Kenworths and Peterbilts with a couple of older Volvos still around.

As for the company culture, no complaints except the shop guys can be cold sometimes. Dispatchers were friendly, as is the safety director (as long as you don't screw up) as you shouldn't.

If it weren't for the low miles, I'd still be there as I liked the company and the personnel and culture. I just couldn't make ends meet paying household bills AND road expenses.

Ok so what's the scoop with the local guys? They home every night or is it "local" like out for the week? Also can you run the coast solo or does it have to be teams? And have they stuck with automatics or gone back to 10 speeds? I know the local guys hit up Brooklyn a LOT. Boar's Head.

Yup. The local guys are out all week and they can end up in NYC, but then most northeast companies do from time to time. The Petes and KWs are 10 speeds. Coast is both a solo and team operation.

Was there any incentive pay for reefer or going to NYC? Emailed their recruiter. Calling tomorrow.

I think there was some kind of NYC pay, but nothing I know of for running reefers.
