calibating and swr problem

    If you have access to a multimeter (volt/ohm meter) here is something that you can check.

    On the lowest resistance scale, check from the antenna mount to the vehicle ground. Resistance should be zero. If not, you have an antenna ground plane problem.

    Ground from the antenna mount to the door.
    Then from the door to the top hinge on the door frame.
    Next, on the door frame, ground from the bottom of the top hinge to the top of the bottom door hinge.
    Finally, ground from the bottom of the bottom door frame hinge to vehicle ground.

    I hope you are not using that radio or you can damage the power transistors [the finals] and turn your radio into junk.
