That all depends. Where are you located and what are you looking to do? Test wise.

Well as far as speed and convince the opus system is best if your testing individual trucks but that's 180 a month. The silver snap system works well on a budget but needs a laptop and the machine to run the tests. That one you have to buy the machine that there's no monthly payment for and the program that is linked to a specific pc and that one has a yearly subscription cost. If its your own fleet they also have systems that are constantly connected but I'm a tester i can't attest to those systems. I've used both the pc based and the opus systems and prefer the opus.

If you have 2012 and belows I use the wager system but all of them are equally as good. Wager was just the one who could get it to me quickest.

Well, it’s been 6 months later from the post, I forgot why I asked for the business address. I’m sure by now you figured out what has to be done to comply.

I went with Silver Snap for the OBD testing. I do not recall how much I paid, you do have to pay a subscription fee every year very simple to use. You will also need a VCI (vehicle connection interface) I was able to use my nexiq 2, and I just upgraded to nexiq 3 had some issues at first however is is working well now. I have been doing opacity testing for about 10 years I got my CCDET certification III from LATTC and I am currently using the wager 6500 it has been a very durable set up not sure what they are going for now when I got mine it was pretty pricy.
They have streamlined the opacity testing which makes it as quick as the OBD testing. This went into effect 6/6/2025 I did my first one using the new method the other day you basically complete the inspection form thru the portal you upload the opacity test results and within minutes you get your pass or fail . I found it much easier if you enter the wrong Ven # it will not let you proceed until you correct it. I did it on purpose I put a letter o instead of a zero and It would not let me proceed which is good cause before if you entered ven incorrect it would delay the process
Well hope this information was helpful
