I have lived in Commufornia since I joined the Marines in 1994, and left NYC. Retired a few months ago from the Corps and have about 2 years as an O/O (used to run on weekends) and I will never comprehend how they can renig EPA policy. My 1996 tractor passed emissions for 1996, so why does it have to be replaced in 2016? It runs great, doesn't smoke, and it is only in the shop when I want it there, not because a darn sensor went out. ANd then the GD hippies, that know nothing about business or running a truck, chime in and try to tell us how to feed our families. I love the weather, but hate the #### state.....

I'll keep heating my house with wood in my wood stove thank you. California can rot for all I care. Let a Volcano erupt in the world and all the emmission crap on these vehicles won't do a darn thing for air quality!. Do we all want clean water yes, clean air yes but there is a limit to pushing to far.. Carb going to install particulate filters on every volcano, or the wild fires california is famous for?.. You californian's, new yorker, stay out of montana. Ruining the state with the feel good liberal agenda !

It was a temporary ban to prevent wildfires.

Not true at all. Why do you think LA air quality improved so much in the last two decades? Would you really still want millions of cars on the road with no catalytic converters?

NO- especially since so many illegals drive their crap-box cars around with cheap messican gas in them. BUT- BUT, you can not renig on a promise. That is what stupid CARB has done here. They basically said back years ago "hey these trucks pass EPA emissions specified for the year they were made, so we can agree with them (the EPA) that these trucks are good to go" And now the idiots are saying "we need to go back as far as we can get away with and put as many truckers out of business with crazy ridiculous rules"

Can you imagine the riots in the streets if they tried this with every vehicle made from 1994 till 2008 today? "Umm yeah, your car DID pass emissions back in the day, but now we want you to spend an extra $5-10000 (scaled down amount) to keep your 1997 Honda Accord on the road. Or, just sell it and you might qualify for a $100 subsidy toward the purchase of a new car, all because we at CARB care about you so much!" EF THEM!!

I'm afraid that isn't a realistic comparison since passenger vehicles have had catalytic converters since the early 70's. A 1994 model year car sure as heck has one. Prior to just 5 years ago trucks had no emissions filter. If anything trucks have had a HUGE break VS cars from the early 70's to 2008. Not to mention cars have to pass a smog test every year or bi yearly, again something trucks got a free pass on for almost 40 years.
