It is refreshing to see that somebody else has digested this situation the same as I have.
I sometimes think that I actually live in a world that has become that dystopian future written about in so many scifi books of the 50s, 60s and 70s.
A place where we have hate speech, social comment is punishable, corporations rule the world and government is merely a puppet.
We are watched and controlled and freedom is just an illusion. We are given just enough to make us kid ourselves we are free but no more. Trucking illustrates this better than any other business.
I love what I do and it is a way of life for me not a job. I live in my truck and it is definitely my home. Has been for about 8 years. This screw that keeps tightening makes me want to shout that I am as mad as hell and won't take it anymore.
The stupid regulations and the gestapo who enforce them - AARRGGHH.
In the last 8 months I have had one violation for having a kitchen garbage container on the floor and another for the positioning of my GPS on the window. This !@#$ is on my FMCSA record!!
Is it any wonder why I feel about California as I do?AZ Pete Thanks this. -
I am a pretty lucky person

One of our guys went through Cordelia scales last week and got inspected. They dinged him for a "defaced reflector". He called me on the phone, mostly just to vent. I've known him twenty years and I don't think I've ever seen him so mad. He had an extra in the toolbox and got everything taken care of before he left the scales.
He showed me the reflector when he got in. It had about a quarter inch piece broken out of the edge. Sigh.
So, go ahead and hate California just a little if you want. Sometimes I do. -
LOL. You will need to be. I hope you are never caught, I really like that you thumb your nose at them. I wish I was willing to do what you are doing but on the whole I have to choose to avoid not confront.
-
And they also won't just 'issue you a citation and let you go'.. With emissions violations they shut down your truck and you either get it retrofitted or towed out of CA.. Not only that, anything emission related is usually an instant court case, not just a 'pay the fine and forget about it'izifaddag Thanks this.

Cordelia is also a training facility.. that should explain maybe little bit of it.izifaddag Thanks this.

Cordelia has always been known for being fussy about little things. I understand about it being a training ground.
I just wish that the trainers would give a little better supervision to the trainees.
I gave the "defaced reflector" to our mechanic. He takes a lot of pride in keeping good trucks and in passing inspections. If I wrote here what he had to say about the Cordelia Kids I'd be banned for life.
izifaddag, Anonymousproxy and AZ Pete Thank this. -
Try looking up the meaning of the word "progressive". Then rethink your post, perhaps..
