What is the rules for flatbed trailers in cali??? Is there a measurement for cab to trailer? Does the spread need to be set forward? Is there something im not thinking about? I am getting offers to run cali from a broker and I want to know the rules before I give them a rate.

If your trailers longer than 48ft the rule is 41' from the center of the kingpin to the center of te rear axle

If you're benson is a 48' spread axle...you don't have anything to be concerned with...you'll be ok.

Be sure to check your rates OUT of California before you accept a load in.

Search Caltrans. As the earlier posts stated, having a 48' trailer makes things much easier. This allows you to use the National Network without dealing with California's kingpin to rear axle law. The National Network includes all interstates, most US Hwys and some major state routes. Once you leave the National Network you can have overall length restrictions and you have to be under 41' from KPTRA. Be especially careful with deliveries in No Cal & mountainous areas. All the information is online and fairly easy to use.

You should also make sure your truck emissions meet their laws. Search California Air Resources Board for this information. IIRC, 2005 and newer trucks are still exempt through 2013. Then they start getting stricter, and requiring aftermarket DPF systems are used.

Yea, you got to be careful of their 65 foot, overall, limit on some roads. My '84 is still good until 1/1/15, but then it is done for Cali.
