I have been driving for a little over a year for one of the larger refer trucking companies. My goal has been to learn as much as possible and not get into any accidents or get any tickets let me just say the no accidents part has gone great but latley I have been hammered with tickets 2 speeding tickets for 65 in a 55 a out of service fix it ticket, A over weight ticket, driving on I580 ticket and i think 2 parking tickets. What happen to the days when driving 10mph over the speed limit cost you $50-$100 dollars most of the these tickets are in the $400 dollar range Im not writing this asking for advice because I know what it would be"slow down" I have! I just have to figuer out how Im going to pay all these fines Driving in California sucks the CHP hand out tickets like there candy grams , its pretty obvious that truck drivers are being made to bring in revenue for the broke state of california I live in cali but I will not be driving there if I can help it.

Can anyone say drive how the laws state? All states are going to write out a ticket for 10 over and its only common sence that the fines go up since the cost of fuel and payrate for the all officers has to go up to cover the cost of living. State budges keep going down so the money has to come from somewere.

A professional driver should know better.
There has never been a leeway. The speed limit is there and it can be enforced.

:biggrin_25513:Im not even going to go into the absurdity of the 55mph speed limit on many of the interstates in california if its safe to do 70 mph on a 500 mile stretch of straight road in texas then how is it not safe to do the same 70 mph on a 500 mile stretch of straight road through the desert in california? The CHP is there to serve and protect not harass and collect revenue the cop that gave me one of the tickets could not tell me who he was protecting by giving me a 65 mph ticket on i5 at 3 in the morning there was noone within 2 miles of me front or back they don't give a #### about if what the driver is doing is safe or not they have a ridiculous set of laws set up and they only care about how many tickets they can write based on these ridiculous laws. Truth be told I would'nt ##### at all if the money they rob from me actually went to fix the roads I have to drive on is it just me or is the truck lane on most interstates not much different then being off road but it doesnt the money goes to paying the cops and when they collect enough they can hire more cops to rob more money from us ,the CHP is no different then the mafia only they get to operate in broad daylight.:biggrin_25513:

Things have changed a lot over the years. After these states found out that the big trucks were actually cash cows the race was on to see who could collect the most.
