I do not know but I have always wondered why people refer to her as the smartest woman alive. I would think that in order to be considered smart you would have to be correct on things. There is no way that health care can be more affordable if you add more people to the payroll. Period.

 

Hi Wooly, It ain't gonna happen that fast. Maybe our grandchildren will have automatics, but I read 80% of all trucks sold still have manual transmissions. Until the cost comes down, they add at least $5,000 dollars to the cost and only add less than 1 to 2% efficiency. I do think as more drivers will be needed to replace us "gear jammers", automatics will become more popular. As far as a woman in the White House, it's right around the corner. I'm amazed at all the female mayors and governors. I say fine, let the women have the headaches for a while.

 

Don't see autos becoming the only thing availble, I have an 18 speed auto in my current truck but I shift it manually and it is 3 pedal, so I don't have the headaches the 2 peddles do with backing or snail movement of the truck. You can still order trucks with 2 stick. Dont see sticks leaving the scene anytime soon.

Driving an automatic is not progress. IMHO it's a lazy mans way to drive. And I've not read anything about every truck after 2015 will be an auto. But you know that if this is another boneheaded idea by the Govt, the very same people who can't get their own house in order, and none of them have any clue about driving a truck. Thus should we be surprised. I'm so glad I can stick with my beloved 10 speed so that I have full control over my rig. But opinions will vary on such a topic. But I have to surmise that the vast majority of O/O will denounce autos too.

 

I believe they would call him the First Person, which would be ironic since he refers to himself in the third person plural.

 

I don't know, they could probably do away with 13's and other splitter transmissions. Those were introduced when you had 238's and 318's where you had to keep the needle agin the pin. With today's high horse motors, I think a 9 or 10 speed is fine.

If you don't have control you shouldn't be driving. I drive an auto and am always in control. I have a "manual" mode on mine. Maybe yours doesn't.

Saying that driving an auto is a lazy mans way is ridiculous. A trucker sits on his ### all day. Doesn't get any lazier than that.
