If I see a fight, instead of calling the cops, why not just keep my nose out of other people's business?
If a crook is beating a robbery victim is that a fight & you don't call the cops or a crime & you call the cops. What happens if you walk up after the punches are flying & you didn't hear/see the robbery attempt?
If everyone acts like a New Yorker on a subway when one passenger is being robbed we eventually all have to live like New Yorker not noticing the crime outside every door and inside every store. How does America turn in San Francisco, slowly and then very quickly.
I don't think that most fights at truck stops are caused by one person trying to commit a strong-arm robbery against another person anyway.
I don't think they are either. That wasn't why I asked the question. Unless you walk past at the moments just before the fight begins and you see or hear WHY they are fighting you can't be sure if you are ignoring a fight about nothing or ignoring a crime in progress, or can you?
I saw a guy beating his baby momma on the side of the road one time. I called the cops and pulled over. The cops arrived before I was able to get stopped and over there to pull him off of her. They arrived and she started showing out and yelling at them for arresting him. I had to show up to court as a witness for the prosecution. I make time to go to court and they dismiss the case the day of the trial. Who got punished? And who learned a lesson? Me that’s who. I did the “right thing” and lost two days pay. Just so he can be let loose and she obviously felt she deserved it because she was defending him. I should have just beat the hell out of him, but I’m sure I would’ve been charged and I doubt they’d drop my charges and I’d had to beat her ### too. I think I’ll just mind my own business from now on.
