I was a dorky kid with coke bottle glasses and a crooked eye… I was having a problem with a bully. My mother said the next time he pushes you, punch him as hard as you can in the face.
I did, he cried….… and we became friends after. So watch out for us dorky kids too…..

Calling the police in most instances sounds good on paper but it doesn’t have the results the caller is seeking.

You are now bringing a gun (cop) to the situation, and the gun is usually held by a poorly trained individual who may or may not have common sense, ego, and a short temper. A bloody nose could turn into jail time, a lost career, legal fees, death, etc.

All of these scenarios where even family members called the police because of a mental health crisis resulting in the death of the person they sought help for. Police are a last resort.

Just be careful and know whether or not you’re in a “duty to retreat” state before you do that.

Calling the cops on truckers fighting? Average response time of police in the US is 10 minutes. Average endurance of a trucker is 2 half-hearted swings, or 3 seconds.

Only thing a cop will do is write a police report and get a driver charged with assault and fired from their job for winning a half hearted fight lol. If someone is going to resort to using a weapon or beats a driver to death, it's going to happen well before a cop arrives. Video evidence would actually be the most useful thing if it got to that point.

It’s always funny to me that people think law enforcement prevents crime. I always have to tell them that they respond to crime after the fact (but the deed was still done).

There has been studies in this, but deterrence (prison time) does not work because there’s 3 categories of crime:

    1) Crimes of passion/heat of the moment. You come home and see your wife in the bed with another man and snap. Last thought on your mind is “I might go to prison”.

    2) The person who thinks he’s so smart that he won’t get caught, so the deterrence doesn’t bother him because “it won’t be him”.

    3) The mentally disturbed and/or the determined individual who just don’t care about the consequences. No punishment is going to alter their actions.

So why do we have LE rolling around in brand new $150k SUV’s, surplus tanks, earning $200k a year after overtime, etc when all they’re going to do is show up after the fact? I’ll never understand the economics of that. If they actually prevented crime we’d have no crime (or little to none).
