Maybe you have a sleep problem that needs to be fixed. You can stop when tired but not sure how you can be up 24+ hours and not be tired. Maybe you can explain that one.

 

I think that driver needs a sleep test.

 

Well I've been out here 27yrs and I 've been on elogs approximately 5yrs
Please explain what I'm not getting. I still have plenty to learn.

 

I didn't say anything about tired. You can be awake and alert and tired. Aleast the way I define it. Sleepy=drowsy=not safe to drive. Tired=I want to sit here and veg out in front of the tv but I can work if I need to.
If I'm active thru the first night I can make thru the day till the next one.
So could you.

 

It's never been by choice. All but one child was an all nighter at the hospital. I would be up through the night and all the next day.
I'm also on call. I might be off all day and get a call at 9 pm and go work a 10 hour run.

 

Its tough to plan rest when you're on call. Find a better job if you can.

 

If your dowsy then maybe their is a sleep problem. Tired sounds the same as not having lots of energy or sleepy. Maybe that why people think they can drive after being up 24 hours. They don't notice the signs of being tired. They just label it as something else.

Someone can sit and watch TV. But I would say after 16-24 hours of doing that the person probably should not drive a big truck. I would not anyway. I would say I'm going to be to tired to drive safely.

That sounds like what the Walmart driver who was commuting to work from 500+ miles away. Then gets in the Walmart truck pulls a 10 hour shift. Then kills someone in NJ. He thought he could safely drive after being up 24 hours.
