I believe you need one year experience to get hired in Chicago still. It was five years, then two, now one.
But I'm sure there are some swift drivers that got into the mix and caused some crashes. Crashes were bad earlier this year with all the new hires. These guys were smashing up brand spanking new tractors left and right. It was sad to see. But it has leveled off. We just had a safety BBQ for having no crashes in over 6 million miles in the Chicago hub.
They have fired a TON of new hires as they have been trying to weed out any bad drivers.
But they are looking to hire another 300 drivers in that location. So in sure there will be another spike in crashes from this.

    LtlAnonymous Thanks this.

How’s long does it take to get a bid run out of Chicago nowadays?

Call the terminal and ask how many people are about to retire. They will be honest with you about when you can expect to get a bid.

Depends on if you are talking about teams or daycabs. Teams start off with a bid right away at the moment. Daycab...I mean... In the past it has been about 3 years. Right now? It would be hard to say without having the board in front of me. But I have to think it would be at least a year or two longer now. Just further incentive to do teams, I suppose.

Thanks for the info. I have zero desire to do teams. Did that with YRC.

We were talking ups prior to that, so I assumed he meant ups. But yeah, he may not have.

I know this may sound like a dumb question. But does ABF allow you to wear shorts when you work on the dock?
