They're worth setting up with. I've scored some very lucrative loads from them. I'm not going to cheer lead for them as I find much of what seems to be standard operating procedure that pisses everyone off about them to be largely true. The reputation they have with a majority of truckers is well deserved and they do that to themselves.

However, I consider it that because many won't work with them but I will gives me an advantage when carriers are being picky over freight and TQL can't book a truck. Also have an independent buddy in TX who scores well from them now and then with oversize/overdimensional. Actually have several o/o I know of who do very well when they book with them. Of course for me roughly 1 out of 50 times they call would be a solid score on something. I suppose those guys are every bit as selective as me because TQL certainly doesn't shower money bags on every load they offer your way.

I have even had one noteworthy lucrative load go really south at delivery and we had a hell of a time settling it but we did work something out. My advice would be set up with them and be willing to work with them but know what you are dealing with. Cover all the bases up front with regards to detention & TONU always ask for zip codes on pick and delivery. It's an opportunity to leverage yourself Oscar. You have the mindset of holding them at arm's length and take advantage of only what works for you when they call.

I deal with them, had about 20 loads within last 6 months. 2 out 20 agents were jerks, but otherwise I did not have problems. They even stopped doing check calls after the 5th load or so. For the most part they do offer very cheap rates, but you can score good stuff out of them, just like from any other broker. You just gotta get loads with FCFS shipper and receiver. It's gonna be pretty hard to get TONU or detention if something goes wrong . They also pay like clock on 28 th day

TONU and detention will not be an issue with them as long as you make the agent spell out your terms on the rate con. If you get the rate con and it's not on there as you told them, no deal. If you don't get these things spelled out you will be at their mercy.

One other key thing. You are not considered dispatched until they send over a "dispatch sheet". Any time you agree to book a load with them you will get 2 separate emails with PDF attachments. One is the confirmation that has the start city and end city with no customer name or address and the rate. The second one has the actual customer info on it and is called the dispatch info. Without that 2nd email you do not have a load booked....

They will sneak out of paying TONU by sending over the rate con, cancelling the load, but saying you weren't dispatched because you didn't get the second "dispatch sheet" email..

The way you put a stop to that is by insisting that the agent you booked the load with, while you have that person on the phone - insist they send over both the rate con and dispatch info before you hang up. Confirm that you have it. If they give you any excuses tell them to do it or find another truck. As far as detention document everything.

Do these things and you won't have TONU/detention issues everyone gripes about.

Are their WORSE brokerages than TQL?

    Believe it or not..YES!

While I never was (or will be) a fan of freight brokerages....Their are a few worse out there.. While TQL's tactics are "snotty" at best..They can be Formed like Putty in your favor, If you know what you're doing, Good negotiation skills.....FIRM delivery on the phone with them shows them you have the upper hand.

UTI-Intransit is now WORSE than TQL- Intransit actually was decent up until UTI took over
    Sunteck is worse than TQL
Freight Logistics, inc out of Medford,Or is the worst.....Years of Loyalty,Then they'll Turn you over and upside down over to 3-striped trackpants

We've done some loads that have worked out ok. My biggest beef is when they cancel after truck is rolling to load and the excessive phone calls. If you book it with us we will get it done. Quit bugging me please.

I've noticed FLI cannot keep people. We did some steel loads for them, dealt with the same kid, nice kid for several loads, then all of a sudden, he was gone, and we had to talk to another gal. Called a week later and she was gone too. I just wonder what goes on in these brokerages sometimes.

That's one of my biggest problems over the years, whether it be a broker or direct shipper. They hire someone new and all these new people have new ideas, an uncle in the trucking business, or take money under the table and you have to start over again and again building trust, ect.

Interesting. I am going to start youtube videos with TQL calls. It's seriously comical at this point. I get a phone call, but since they're blocked, I get a number I don't recognize. Sure enough it's a kid looking to pay off student loans on my back. Offers me some dumb load to Cali. I simply say "oh, no, no cali"..he MOCKS me..I Heard him mocking me, repeating what i said in that "oohhh..noo..noo...caliii" voice and right after says "thanks anyways"..I open my mouth to tell him that I'm possibly his father, but he hung up.
