Rollin coal sums it up best. I Book loads with TQL and you can pretty much tell just from their voice how your conversation is going to go. They'll try and get the cheapest rate possible, it's their job, we all have or had dreams of making lots of money and they most definitely do. I just give em my highest rate first and if we meet somewhere in the middle that I can live with then good, if not, thank you and have a nice day. Getting detention is like pulling teeth but as long as you get it in your rate con before your unloaded or loaded you'll get it. My truck doesn't move till I get their dispatch email. Ive worked with good brokers there and some a bad review wouldn't be good enough. I've made good money, and some loads I took less just to get to a better area. I call just about every good rated broker on the board to see what's paying and some days TQL is paying good others someone else is. It's always good to have plenty of resources, you never know when I might just need to use one.

Called on a load today from MI to DE, was asked how much do I want, I said $3 per mile. She asked me how do I have a nerve to offer that and sounded upset.
I said, well, then how do you guys have a nerve to offer $1 per mile freight. The conversation went downhill from there and it was just hilarious.

I hate brokers who want to get in pissing matches. It shows weakness and a lack of experience. With many of them the disdain and contempt they have for carriers is clear also which probably never changes no matter their mood. These are bottom feeders and people who will probably wash out and fail.

So if she would have politely negotiated with you. What would you have been willing to take it at?
For context type of freight/trailer? "Art of the Deal".......
