AH...ok makes sense....nah, I have the 'lane departure disable' button. I use that. Thanks for pointing that out!
This thread just makes me want to keep my old Mack until the wheels fall off. What a bunch of BS they are putting us through.
And keep my old 26 year old tahoe at home. It hardly has anything in it. It has a basic computer for engine and thats about it. Ive got a computer that I can plug into it when it;s running and see whats what. Keep your old mack, it will out live you. When i started there were macks dating to the very late 50's still running in the 80's back then. Thats 30 years plus. I don't do cameras unless I bought my own. There will be a awful lot of bills of lading and other associated company forms up there and if they cannot see anything with that camera oh well. In a few years that truck will become alive and self aware. And do the driving without humans in them. Wouldnt that be nice. //sarc
I got one of the last Mack's without cameras and all that BS. 217000 miles. I will retire before this truck
Cool. Mine has similar miles. I average about 100K miles per year, so hopefully it'll last at least 3 more years. The Prostars I had would always crap out by 300K lol.
If you use the lane departure off button to often the company will let you know. My solution was to go to a different company without that c##p.
The sensor in the bumper is the radar unit, and that’s the heart of the adaptive cruise crap. The windshield camera is for lane departure and speed limit sign noise.
within the next 5 years ALL companies will have a camera in the truck. Bet that's going to be the next 'mandate'! My question is, how will THAT make driving safer? If it does, maybe they should 'test' on 4 wheelers and have actual proof before putting it in trucks. Oh wait, nobody wants to be watched while driving their vehicle, my bad.
