Camera? Not on my watch

How much information can they get about a accident with a driver facing camera?

This whole thing stinks to high heaven and I hope this camera thing doesn't fly .... What an insult

 

The driver facing cam will bite them in the rear more often than help them, at least regarding civil suits.
Any video that shows the driver doing anything but looking alert, both hands on the wheel, sitting upright, not picking his nose, or blinking, can be interpreted as 'distracted'.
Not by the cops, but in civil court.
Have a cup of coffee in your hand, even though you are driving totally safely and whatever happened is not your fault? You are a bad driver.

 

There was a case here in AZ where a tanker driver tossed his billfold on the dash thinking he had blocked the driver facing camera shortly there after he hit a DPS officer. The video shown on the news shows him looking at his cell phone at the time. Turns out he was watching a porn video on his cell phone.

Which might explain why they did not reply to my original question as to whether or not they have cameras facing the driver in their trucks. I know there was a thread on here that said which companies have cameras in their trucks - seems that it really needs to be something to stay on top of so that potential drivers can make a decision one way or the other as to if it would be a deal breaker for them or not. It must be a PITA if a dispatcher is hounding a driver over how he/she is holding the steering wheel, or if he (or she) farts or not..next up? Smell-a-vision
