For some reason I haven't been getting notifications when there's a new thread on this chain. We do not have cameras in our trucks.

Why is "pop goes the weasel" playing over and over in my head?
I'm not saying that cameras are completely bad in some lines of work, but a driver facing camera in a semi? Screw that.whoopNride Thanks this. -
Put them over every desk of the office jerks, have one on every mechanic, in every break room, in every parking lot, near every water cooler, in every corner of company property, then talk to me about having one in my truck.
Make sure they're in the bathrooms, and instruct all users to make sure to close the door to the stall or turn your back to the camera when you pee, but 'We're not watching you!'Sad_Panda and snowlauncher Thank this. -
mjd4277 and carramrod32 Thank this.

Not defending cameras, but if the boss wants to watch the office staff, he can stare at them for hours. If you think that a company is hiring a specific person to just sit there and watch you all day, you don't understand how business or money works. -
And that is why I won't work in an office, not that I would have anything to hide. I won't tolerate micro-management dealed out by idiots.
I was a supervisor at a facility years ago. The boss was a jerk, but I could deal with him. He called me in one day and told me to fire a guy. The only reason was he didn't like him.
(Long haired, hippy type, but a #### good worker)
I told him he was a good worker, and worked as hard as I did.
He said 'OK, never mind. You don't need to fire him. You're fired. I'll fire him.'
Many of us end up driving a truck because we don't want to deal with XXXX like this. (But we end up dealing with maybe worse stuff.)mjd4277, whoopNride, Poacher and 1 other person Thank this. -
Camera, elogs, Micro management, immoral treatment of employees. Followed driver harrassment, forcing some one to work regardless of physical condition. Sounds like a combination of slavery and prison. No freedom, no privacy.
Wuss and basketcase64 Thank this. -
It hard for people to understand why the goverment would take an industry that was self policing, respected and lowering fatalitys all on its own.... and compleatly tear it apart... Greed.
Deregulation took the teeth out of this industry long ago. Trucking is more of a lab rabbit , or human experiment to see just how far they can go.
As long as the words Safety or Environment are even uttered by a lobbiest working for someone like Qualcomm "elogs" or DEF "Mobile, and 100 defense contractors between wars not killing people " , the money flows and the experiment goes deeper.
Cop unions are fighting not only cameras, but the tracking of their driving habits . They of course will lose because to argue with SAFETY will be twisted around till it means you kill babies. And what elected official, ceo or person who needs to keep their job, would ever want to be called a reckless killer?
They will get the cameras in trucks as soon as this elog garbage cools off. I mean, it's not like we are going to strike. The word Strike is not in the new drivers vocabulary since it was a practice that died with the unions in the 80's. Yeah you hear of strikes today, but not like the knock down drag out, baseball bat shootem ups they used to have
Cameras, medical records, drug screening, seat belts,elogs,abs,airbags.... it's not really about safety when you follow the money .old iron, rocknroll81, Derailed and 3 others Thank this.
