If I had to trust a complete stranger to drive a truck that I'm making payments on then you can bet I'd have cameras all over it.......just to protect my investment and not so much the driver.

I understand that feeling, but others in these threads have answered it already (to my satisfaction if not everyone's): the company trusted my resume and their background check, they trust my performance in the time I have been with them, why must they go this extra extreme?
DrtyDiesel Thanks this. -
I know I have stated in the past, that the camera has made me a better driver, but I DO NOT like it looking at me 24/7/365. My driving and safety records speak for themselves. Every single time, for whatever reason that #### camera is triggered it gives the Safety Dept. plenty of time to pick that clip apart and find a way to "coach", or discipline the driver for something. We have to react and make decisions in the moment, they can sit back and "armchair quarterback" the call. I see it time and time again. I DO NOT like the inward facing camera. It heard a driver fart and they wanted to know if he was fit for duty ? C'mon. It's all about the company saving money on their insurance costs, I get that, but unless you are a loser driver that needs constant monitoring inward, should be out. It helps weed out the bad apples, but the majority of drivers that have them don't like it. My cab and truck are always squared away, everyday. Funny how you don't see management's vehicles with cameras, they are always on the phones and laptops, not to mention chowing down coffee, donuts and drive thru's. But hey, they're management.

I totally agree, they are here to stay. The cost of a single "incident" no matter how minor is about $ 5K, so you can imagine the cost of a real accident. It's much cheaper for the carriers to settle out of court, but it is still a major cost for them. So any way to save on costs will definitely be in the interest of the companies. So to all...... get used to the cameras. Unfortunately, when you sign on with a company that has them, you are saying ok to them. That's the way it is.
For all of you out there that think all you have to do is put a piece of tape over the lens, or find some other way to block the view, or pull the fuse.... that is known as tampering. So that in itself could cost you your job. They have it pretty much figured out folks.
