Lol its always some endless debate on mpg right ? )
Not that they get great milesge, but you had something weird or wrong if averaging 13.5 empty?

Hand calculated I average 14 mpg on rv hsuling runs, which is about 8 loaded , so unloaded sure isn't 13.5... ouch!!! )

The pay isn't where it should be, that's for sure.
I've no idea what a starting otr, driving a 100k miles annually , takes home after taxes.

But :I'm not retired, my wife doesn't work or need to.
My old regular job was 50k salary..which after taxes etc, was about 36k..certainly nothing to brag about so maybe I'm used to being meager ?
We've a nice home, in a decent area, no real debt. It can be done, but yeah I'd say ou already need to be established in life. Low debt, be able to not borrow to have good equipment, and a set aside to purchase again.

    Maybe I should drive a dump truck.locally. ?
    I won't argue that's lilkly as profitable..

But there are a lot if variables in this rv game. and everyone has there own take on what works for them, whether that's routes, backhauls, tnh's ,different firms etc etc.
