Can an Owner operator train me for my CDL if I have my permit?

My husband is wanting to train me to get my CDL in his truck.
It would be leased onto Mercer if that makes a difference.
I have been a pilot car for him for the past 12 years and will have my permit prior to the training.
I do have a basic knowledge of the truck and how to secure loads but have never actually driven.
I have had my permit once in the past but never got the experience necessary to obtain the license.
I believe we are at a point to be ready to proceed with this plan and any advice is much appreciated.

The REAL answer is it depends on your state. Some states REQUIRE you to have so many hours from a school. Check with your states DOT. All you really have to do is call a testing center and ask them.
