So me and my partner just started driving together a couple weeks ago and we are having troubles trying to sleep being so our runs are both night and day and then flopped so our patterns are way off. I heard something about a 10/10 so no one runs at night hardly or a 5/5 .. is that just running from 10-10 or 5 hours at a time? I’m just lookin for something more during the day for us. Again I hear the 5/5 is awesome just don’t know what it is. Thanks
Can Anybody Help With a Sleep Schedule??

2 to 2 and reset somewhere. You’ll have to fight over who gets which shift, then stick to it. You’ll both adapt, eventually

10/10 could be running just ten hours rather than the full eleven. Your co driver still gets the ten hour break. However it really equates to 10 1/2 hours after the thirty minute break.
5/5 probably refers to five in the am to five in the pm as a driver shift.
When I ran teams we did a 3/3 shift. That way we both drove part of the day and part of the night. I preferred the 3am to 3pm shift. Once I got pass the 7am mark and the sun came up I was good to go. That schedule worked good for us and it was something we both agreed to.Eowyn, LoSt_AgAiN and DevJohnson Thank this. -
it is tough, you can either drive/sleep the same hours, or at the very least SLOW DOWN to the speed limit, to give the person in the bunk, a smoother ride to fall asleep.
i think part of the problem is, the driver is going faster than the posted speed limits, making the one in the bunk go bouncey - bounce...Nothereoften and DevJohnson Thank this. -
a way to smooth out driving is to use open containers for you water, fill them almost to the top and drive without spilling any.

Am I able to do less hours if he does more and just have the truck sit for four hours? I don’t think that’s a long time. So if I ran from say 5-2 and he ran from 2:30 to midnight giving truck to sit for four hour until my ten was up

if i recall, the point of team driving, is that truck NEEDS to be kept moving, otherwise, go solo....
if there were no loads, available MAYBE THEN, you both can take that time to get some sleep, but sleep is not something you can "bank on"...you cannot catch up on it, rather..it catches up on YOU.....
a person needs at the very least 5 hours of restful sleep, more like a full 8 would be best.....Lepton1, brian991219 and DevJohnson Thank this. -
12 to 12 . You both will share daylight and nite.
