Depends on bank or who your lease is through.

First of all I said "most - NOT ALL". Those who own their own trucks and can freely take move their truck change the math significantly. Even with SFI financing there is a differnece between those who run their business and those whose business runs them.

Second I said "glorified", there is a difference between the two, but the differences are not as big as some think. IC's have more freedom and more control, but also more risk.

Third while company drivers can't take their truck to another company they can take themselves to another company, end result is the same.

Big difference between a Schneider IC and a company driver. Schneider is so anal that they tell their company drivers what kinds of clothes they have to wear when on company property. One is dispatched, the other isn't. One goes home when they choose, and for how long they choose, the other one has to request permission and is basically limited as to how long. One is paying for a truck (or should be if they are taking this seriously), the other is driving somebody else's equipment.

Is a Schneider IC a true independent contractor? No. Far from it. They are a contractor, but nothing independent about it.

At the same time though, they are far from being a schneider company driver.

My previous company taking a leased truck to another company wasn't an option whatsoever. And a helluva lot more rules than they have here.

Your bank will always want to know where you have your truck leased,( or if you are running your own numbers).
