A good friend of mine tried it for a season.
Never wanted to do it again. He is a Canadian based in Winnipeg, MB.
I trust his judgement a lot. He is a safety oriented professional.
With over 30 years in the business and many safety awards.
Take it for what it's worth.

not trucking related, but i actually do know someone, that he and his wife were going up to Canada (years ago) for the job they were at, and transfering up there, to get the company expansion started. they went thru all sorts of "Spanish Inquisitional questioning" regarding all sorts of reasons why, they (Americans) were going to work up there.

something like close to a weeks worth of BS. all the while, not being allowed to leave thier hotel for anything but food, and back.no sight-seeing.

finally the home office, just dropped the idea of expanding.

Great decision. It was not worth all the pain and suffering they endured.

Heard there's no money in it now since the TV show drew in so many people that the rates are cut.

There is still money in there. But the whole economy is slowly crashing and burning anyway.

Hopefully it bounces back. The truck traffic and equipment moving around the industrial park is up 10 fold from last year.

Odd thing I noticed over the long weekend was besides the pipeline there was literally not one road construction project going on in over 700 kilometers of Hwy 5/Hwy 16. Not even a big, fancy billboard sign announcing upcoming road improvements. Wondering if these large outfits are bidding these jobs assuming $3/L fuel? Or just saying to hell with bidding provincial government work and taking on private/municipal work instead?

We all know its faked. If they wanted to make a decent show they should have followed more guys like Jay from season 1. No BS, get the job done right and safe.
