Midmomom,
depend on where you live ?, i live in cuba, so i internet surfed for the wia programs and found my info, not that i didn't get alot of info off of here. It all boils down to your local work connection places mine is called that. there is a certified school right here in cuba they are wonderful people, i've known the owners and the teacher since i was a kid. the school name is Westwindcdl.com check it out . if you want more info i have a flier right here in front of me and i can answer ur question that may be on the flier and what i found out when i drove over there. this school is really conveint for me because i live here and plus work connection highly recremends (sp) it for the funding or a school out of granite city Il. they are the only two that (my connection for the wia) will pay for if you are excepted.
I am still very new to all this and still have a million questions so far all the info that is posted here on this page has been HELPFUL (thank you lurchgs and all !) don't take me wrong so has all the others... you have to read read but you'll find alot of vauluable info.
this is what i can help you with i hope that it does. if you're close check the school out (Mon. - Fri. 8-5) you'll be amazed it's not fancy they are there for teaching and buisness... oh let me make it clear it's no dump hole in the wall place for sure.
can anyone help????

Cuba??!!!!!!! I thought you said you lived in Missouri??!!!!!! LOL
-
LOL, yeah that would be the wonderful CUBA MO.... yeah right....hehehehe
-
Biker, who do you drive for??
-
Nobody right now... Just found out that I'm going to have to wait about 5-6 weeks for some critical paperwork needed for applications to arrive. Soooooo, that counts out the local driving school here in Tampa. As soon as funds arrive, it looks like I'll be going to Salt Lake to attend CR England's school. Not the best option, but it gets me working and I can do a year standing on my head if I need to. (Thank you Uncle Sugar for that ability! LOL)
rosewhisper Thanks this. -
kool......i was checking into them too, but i have heard bad and good...
-
I suspect that most companies are going to have that association. It's human nature to complain about the bad experiences more so than the good. And while CR England may not be the best company in the world, I'm one of those that can make the best out of the worst situations. Like I posted earlier, I can do a year standing on my head. Lord knows I was sent to enough hell holes during my time with the military to get through most anything....

well keep up on the post about the company, curious to here you point of veiw.. i wont be able to do anything until i see what happens with the wia program which wont be till july 2 when funding come thru. oh you bet i can stand on my head to i am a military brat, dad put us kids thru alot. 2nd my own kids keep me strong and going this is about them then me.

Sorry - wasn't as clear as I'd hoped. I'm not saying DON"T take Karate or whatever - I'm saying that those are not the kinds of classes I'm talking about. If you want a formal martial art - by all means, go for it. It just takes a bit of time, a bunch of money, and a lot of commitment, is all. The "what to do in an emergency" classes are a lot faster, and - for this particular application, a bit more germane.
I currently am in training for May Trucking. Don't recall if they're hiring from Missouri or not. I saw a highlighted map, but was looking northeast, not south/midwest. If you are interested, I'd say, go ahead and give them a call. The worst they can do is say "no", after all!
Permit to carry - I see you've been fed the same old BS that 95% of all other drivers have swallowed. DOT doesn't give a hoot if you carry or not. There is nothing in the FMCSR or the US Code that says it's a bad thing. If you are in a state that honors your CCW, you are fine. Legally
Company policy is something else, entirely. I've yet to find a company that permits weapons on their rigs. Personally, I think this is short-sighted, and generally NOT a good policy - but what can I say?
I used to think these stories of ... shenanigans in the next lane were largely myth... until I saw *two* vehicles with occupants in the midst of .. um.. well.... extra heavy petting on the interstate?
5'1" - and this is a problem? It's not so much height, I'd think, as it is about strength. Can you bind down the load or lay out the tarp adequately? I'm 6'6", and it's probably easier for you to get on the trailer deck than it is for me.rosewhisper Thanks this. -
thanks you for the input
