Well, I just received an email from the recruiter.

Apparently the director didn't approve my application because I had a rear-end, non injury, non ticketed, non tow-away accident in 2015.

I knew I should've omitted it from my application since it doesn't show up anywhere. Oh well, I know for next time.

Yes, I'm looking for a company that will train me to get my CDL. I'm trying to digest everything because after all of my research Millis seemed to be the best fit for me. I'm not a job hopper and planned on staying with my first company for at least 3 years.

My MVR report that Millis ran is completely clean so I know never to report the accident again.

I got the impression that the application was a standard online form used in the industry, and all applications are being stored so that you create an application history in a government database (DOT?). I assume other companies have access to that application history, but even if they don't, I still wouldn't recommend having conflicting information floating around for numerous reasons that could come back to haunt. Perhaps there was an additional reason for denial in addition to your accident and they didn't need to list them all (?) At least they gave you ONE.

My application last summer to get into a Millis' training class was denied while having a squeaky clean driving record that goes back so far, I can't even remember my last ticket or accident. (15-20 years at least). So I'm guessing they either didn't like ....
    1) Age, (slightly over 60) or
    2) I haven't been on anyone's payroll for over 10 years. (I've worked as an election judge on election day for the temp agency that staffs it, but that was only cause I answered the call to 'serve my community.')

Some companies will mention on their websites that they want a 'stable work history' and a recruiter at another company (not Millis) told me I had to show proof of having worked for two years immediately prior to applying. If you're self-employed they'll consider viewing your IRS returns to prove it, but the preference is they want to see that you've recently punched someone's time clock. Living off retirement-like savings and wanting to "come out of retirement" for any of 100 possible reasons is not enough of a reason to be hired.

The saddest part to me about Millis is, they'll never know that I consider my standards to be high, and that I've only applied to one company because they were close by and positive things were said about them on this board. They also had an apparent ability to offer scheduling options (according to their website) that seemed like a plus for the future. I don't have any desire to job hop either, especially at my age. Two companies maximum for the next 10 years would be fine....one for newbie experience, then maybe one for a better schedule if I couldn't get it at the first one.
    Good luck.
