My fiances' company she is a supervisor at ships freight to its distribution center, They're looking for someone to hual their reefer freight, I'm positive I could have the work if I wanted it, but my question is if I go buy a cheaper truck and reefer trailer would it be a wise decision? I find volvos and freightliners for around 12k all day, I could trade my newer pickup for one (hopefully) and buy a trailer too. that gets me out of the truck loan and into the business debt. The haul is short, its just under 600 miles round trip, I could probably do it in a daycab but I don't want to sell myself short.
Can get loaded, now what?

12k trucks will be asking for repairs till you replace the motor and then some. If you are positive you can get the loads and can forsee that money would be good- then spend some decent change on a truck and avoid the breakdown street.Lilbit Thanks this.

New trucks break down also and usually they are in the shop more with all the BS emissions crap going bad.
Look for a good used truck that you can afford and have it checked out real good before buying. But first do you have a business plan and have all the details and cost of operation before you know what you can afford? Is this freight going to be a every day haul and are you going to have a contract with them or anytime some idiot come in their and cut your rate and your out?uptownkid and Eskimo6804 Thank this. -
it's not about the miles...it's about the money

What is the freight volume 1 load per day, 1 per week?
