I have had my class B since 2014 and have had my class A permit since 2021. It cost to much to go school, and I was wondering since I have my A permit, can an O/O train me behind the wheel? So I can just go take the test at the DMV to get my A License?

Don't think you can do that with the ELDT rules now.

Everything I’ve found says you have a minimum number of hours to complete now even to upgrade the Class B to a Class A.

This is her post from another thread. Didn't mention already having a Class-B CDL.

"I have my class A permit and have had it for 2yrs now. School is expensive and I just need the behind the wheel training. But I don’t know anyone personally that is an O/O that I can get can train me. ‍♀️"

Highly unlikely an 0/0 will train you because of insurance. The least little fender bender and he can lose his truck and home.
Your best bet is cdl school which is free through the WIOA Program in your state.
You can also sign up for a trucking company cdl school.

Where exactly do you live? There are many here who can provide more localized help/insight. For example, the local community colleges around me have robust grant programs for truck drivers, with many not paying a dime for schooling. In addition, should you choose that route, many employers will NOT accept many training programs. A location would be helpful. In addition, knowing what you’d like to do with a Class A license, would provide further guidance for help.

In addition to the above post --

    • Try to choose a school/program that has AT LEAST 160 credit hours.
    • Look for a CDL curriculum that will teach you using and then final exam you on a 10-speed manual equipped tractor; with this option, you won't have/get an "automatic only" restriction on your newly-minted CDL-A.
