Hi no experience cdl driver here.
So I’m potentially looking at getting my own rig. I have no experience driving. Currently have around 15,000 dollars saved up. Is this possible with my current situation? I am 22 years old, what would be my best option probably leasing? Not sure honestly thank you for any feedback have a great day. Another thing I have a good credit score of around 700

Hello and Welcome. Seems you didn’t read the rules before posting. We have a “Search” feature on the left upper right hand corner. You can use that feature to search what you’re looking for. There are “Countless” threads of the same thing you’re looking for. Feel free to use it. And goodluck in your search.

Add 100k to your savings, 2-3 experience in the trailer you intend to pull, and study the market to include how you intend to secure work that will be profitable.

That $15,000 will make a nice DOWNPAYMENT on your insurance policy...:evil3:

Yep. Watch for the 60-70k insurance quote. There would be no money left over at the end of the month to buy fuel.

I have to ask you this --->> where did you get this idea?

Here are a couple of other questions for you.

Why do you think leasing is a good thing?

Where do you think the work comes from, the broker fairy?

    boneebone and PPNLE Thank this.

There was a member that did what you’re thinking to do so it really comes down to what you’re made of. Sounded like he was happy and successful with doing what he did.

If I remember correctly he got in during the good times but gave it up due to personal reasons.

Right now imo your thinking is going to lead you into a situation that you’ll regret the rest of your life.

Read some of the threads of long time members with years of experience giving it up due to lousy rates and insane fuel costs. These are hard core truckers not sniveling snowflakes that just quit because they couldn’t handle the lifestyle anymore.

Not even sure if it’s a good time to even be a company driver…
