Would you spend that $15k to open a nail salon ?
Or a pizza place ?
A used car lot ?
A pawn shop ?
A BBQ joint ?
why not ?
It would be very foolish to open a business that you didn’t know a single thing about and had zero experience in .
If you wanted to open a nail salon ,the logical thing to do would be to get a job at one and learn everything you could about doing nails and pedicures and manicures , and then manage one so you could Learn what services are profitable and how much to charge and what the supplies cost and what the rent costs and what the utilities cost and what the employees cost and what the insurance costs etc etc etc
same with a BBQ place .
Would you take that $15k and rent a building ?
Do you know how to BBQ pork ? Beef ? Chicken ? what kind of wood to use ? How long ? What temperature?
know about the rules and regulations and restrictions and inspections and permits and training requirements and insurance requirements?
Taxes ?
What’s the utility bill gonna be ?
How much beef should you cook for Saturday ?
you get the picture .
if you want to get into trucking and learn the business , then fine .
Learn it on someone else’s dime .
Same as the nail salon or BBQ joint or used car lot .
Hey someone else to help you learn how to make a profit .
a good driver with a clean MVR can earn $100k in their third year .
Can I become an owner operator with no experience?

Don't see businesses selling pizza slices for 25 cents a slice or nail salons doing nails for $1. Meanwhile drivers out here hauling for free or at a loss

Save your money. Get minimum 3 years experience then think about it.
I did exactly what you want to do but with 60k and that wasn’t enough back in 2018. Had major debt by 2020 and barely escaped in 2022 with everything paid off before selling in September in 2022.
good luck.PPNLE and blairandgretchen Thank this. -
What is it about this industry that makes so many people with no experience entertain this idea

If you had a friend who didn’t have any experience as a truck driver or business owner, would you invest $15k in him?
PPNLE and blairandgretchen Thank this. -
It's more addictive than drugs!
That's why so many keep doing it !PPNLE, Sons Hero and Old_n_gray Thank this. -
One post wonder. 15,000 is not a lot of money today. Can I take a poll? If OP does this how long will he/she last? 22 years old and no experience. If we at TTR gave them a truck I think they will fail. Very hard business trucking is.
