no offense but if you wanna be a man and support your daughter then I suggest you get off the meds and get a job without them... I'm sorry but I am no believer in meds for panic attacks... or depression. And if you want to be a driver then you will really need to be off of them. Maybe I am being too harsh but I personally believe there is no reason to ever be on depression meds. they just make things worse. If you constantly have it in your mind that you are sad and depressed then that is all you will ever be is sad and never get anywhere. The day that you wake up and finally quit feelings sorry for yourself then you will finally start living. trucking is not a job that you can be on meds and perform. there is no place for any meds in this job. I'm sorry for seeming harsh

You already have the DOT Medical Card? That means the medication is not on the banned list for CDL drivers. If that's the case, tell you physician you need to keep a 90 day supply with you.

First off this is a major drug with some hard side effects. Knowing a bit about anti-psychotic drugs, I would not even drive a car if I had to take them. You need to find something else to do with your life because even if you are on the drug, there is a limitation to what you can do and what can trigger an episode. Driving a truck unfortunately driving a truck isn't to be taken lightly.

Don't look at it that way, it may be a good thing because now you can do something else and not be apprehensive going for it.

I love how the first few posts ridiculed the OP about having some mental illnesses. I mean can any of us really honestly say were stable mentally 100% of the time when were behind the wheel? Weather you have depression, anxiety, etc it doesn't matter. Proven fact is most truck drivers deal with some sort of depression or anxiety. I realize the OP may have a bit more of a severe case than most of us do but let's all get fricken real here. If you've ever got behind that wheel when you've had something at home on your mind, or been depressed, or been anxious were all the pot calling the kettle black!

Just my opinion on the matter!

excellent post and the responses are the exact reason many people don't get help.

rugerfan, you have no clue what some folks really deal with, they all wish it was as simple as you believe if they are not on the list of banned substances he has no problem

Yes that is the truth. I can't say much on a public forum but I can say rugerfan wouldn't last a day if he threw my boots on. Best way I can explain it. Take the worst day of your life multiply it by a million and that's what a person who deals with depression feels like every second of their life.

Yes there are ups and downs good and bad but that's what a person with depression goes through. And most wouldn't ever know it because it doesn't show. Too many stereotypes, too many people that judge that's the problem too much ridiculing and not enough helping.
