You may be right. Hr block says those filing schedule c and f can still claim that stuff.

This also ends in the year 2026 and we can claim business expenses again....

It's what 200 bucks, you should be looking for a different job anyway if you can't afford that.

I was under the impression that it was a fed thing. And came with the status of having a cdl.

    Not a state thing.

Intrastate don't matter. Local boys still have to have med cards.

Although my boy went to some school through the marines and got his cdl in california. Needed it to drive cranes. Was never told about the med card.

IIRC. A person didn't need a cdl to occasionaly drive the farm equipment that normally requires a cdl. But seems like someone wanted to make it a rule to have it. Landline talked about it a few times on the trucker channel. Few years back.

As for the tax deductions. I've always been told by the tax pros it had to exceed the standard deduction. For employees. For the last 30 years. I don't think any of us spend $6,500 in work clothes. Or whatever it is.

which is why i have a CPA that my dad went to (his dad), and we have had a business relationship for nearly 60 years (or so).....i let him deal with all tax things......i do itemize too by the way, and i end up getting back more than the "standard deduction".

i only paid $120. (that was my last DOT, just last year, around this time too)

would not surprise me what some doctors/clinics get however.

with the money he claims to be making, and working 7 days a week? i am sure he can afford a DOT physical....i am suspiciously thinking, he has a health concern and either may only get a 3 month or 1 year card......

That regulation I posted in comment #6 was the State Of NY intrastate rule. The Feds really should not even be involved in intrastate trucking regulation to start with. However the feds get around the 10th amendment by holding federal money hostage until the state does what they want. They did this back in the 70s with the double nickel speed limits. Some of our young drivers don't know that at one point in our past the speed limit EVERYWHERE was 55.
