My 1st T/T job, in the '70's, I had no T/T experience, but drove a tandem axle dump truck and pulled equipment trailers with it, so I had a general knowledge with trailers. I was up front with the new boss, and we went for a ride, and in 5 minutes, he knew I could handle the T/T and told me to head back. Was hired on the spot, filled out a 3x5 index card with some phone number's of "next of kin", and I was trucking that very day. Times sure have changed.

I got hurt awhile back and was on Transitional Duty... I worked at the terminal driving the courtesy van and drawi g my average drive pay.. so not a bad deal... but, to the topic...
Every week.. I would make a couple trips to the greyhound station to drop off someone who did t make it through orientation. .. often time a little white lie about a past employer... said they quit when they got fired... added a month to the dates to cover a gap... most of te time it was just a silly lie.. but it got the booted from orientation and a bus ride home...
It is important for you to understand.. that they will contact your past employers. . They will verify all hou put on your application.. and if your lucky it will be done before you get to far down the road..
There have been drivers who were out on the road and routed to the terminal to be fired for lying on thier application...
Now, I am sure that some have gotten away with some falsifying on thier applications. .. but, some also wi. The lottery... do you really want to leave your career to chance..."semi" retired and Tonythetruckerdude Thank this. -
Many companies have refresher course. Be honest when you fill out the application, then follow with a phone call and ask if the company offers refresher if the question comes up. You have 2 yrs. experience, so shouldn't be a problem.

Good luck lying on ANY application in regards to trucking. Let us know whether or not you follow our advice or do something stupid, and how it works out for you. -
To zoekatya, sorry for the not so happy responses, we're here to answer all questions, but sometimes even questions like this make us wonder. Years ago, you could get away with that, but now, it's just not worth it. Without some kind of formal training today, companies just can't take a chance. Having driven OTR, it may give you an edge for driving a T/T, but only after school of some sort. Good luck. -
Personally I wouldn't lie. You really don't need to lie. You have a year OTR. That's enough experience for a lot of companies.
-
Lying is never good but if you know how to do it, go for it. All these drivers tell you not to lie but the truth is that they all lie or have lie in the past. You just have to do it in a way that will look legit.
