They do audit carriers and consortium records. every year a number of carriers are chosen to submit their YTD records to the FMCSA.

BTW drug and alcohol violations are NOT negotiable; no 'let's make a deal' in the audit closing session like on all the other fines.

Using a driver with our having results of a pre-employment drug screen is $50,000.00 a day for EVERY day they can establish....

My system was compliant and they found one instance where a post accident situation and the BAC [alcohol] was ordered but not performed and we were able to produce the clinic authorization form requesting both drug and alcohol...no biggie, just write a letter saying why, stick it in the file, oh yeah here is another $6,000.00 as the penalty.....they don't play around with this stuff.

Ok so what I’m getting from all your combacks is we’re ###### if we do and ###### if we don’t. I guess I’ll stay with it till I retire. The consortium I joined told me years ago I would be in violation if I opted out, meaning they would rat me out. Have any of you had motor carriers ride beside and run your plates and stickers? I wonder if D&A proof of testing would come up in their computers

At the push of a button, my friend. DOT knows the last time you changed your underwear. One of the reasons I retired, was I was tired of being treated like a low life drug addict, I mean, we were trucking when these people were in diapers, now I have to prove to them, after 35 years and over 3 million safe miles, they think I'm in the same class as some druggie? Far as I'm concerned, it's a slap in the face, and you should feel the same way. 65 and peeing in a bottle. Terrible. They can cram it with walnuts and I refuse to be a part of that BS.
