Best advice you'll ever get lol
I was married with 2 kids and divorced before I was 20. Took 20 years to climb out of that hole. Worst part of it all was she wasn't even that good. Or worth it.
Can I use load boards without a trailer?

I know is should probably start a new thread for this... but: Does anyone know how many miles a heavy hauler get per year? I've been watching Sergei Dratchev for a few years now, and it's seems like he barley goes anywhere. This might be because he works out of canada, but I was just wondering if anyone know how many miles heavy haulers actually get on average?

The bigger and heavier the less and less. It takes time to get permits and engineers to approve your route and stuff like that. Lots of curfews different by every state and dependent on your width or height. A ton more laws than we already have to follow. Start out slow kid... think flatbed and get really good at that then maybe go to oversize and then once you are the expert at that you can try your hand at the stuff where you have like 19 axles and pusher trucks and all that. Takes a lot to eventually become the top guy and that's why while he may not drive many miles per year he makes a handsome income because he knows how to abide by all laws for all jurisdictions and do all the permits and get it there in one piece. That's the difference..
Aka "real work". Not for me. Lol. -

I'm not saying he's the complete expert, but there isn't really alot of information out there for heavy hauling.

Problem with using new trailers hauling loads and then drop trailer at destination is if someone (forklift driver) damages trailer, you will be responsible for damage repair. Even if insurance or damager pays, you still have to deliver trailer to destination in same condition as you picked it up. Too risky imho.

If you're interested in heavy haul, mosey on over to the heavy haul sub-forum (under flatbedding) and observe. There is a wealth of information there. I won't name names because I'll forget someone. -
What happened with him? lol, lets hear the drama.

For power only - take a look around at regional distributors of groceries. We got our start 15 years ago doing this and it was a good way to break in slowly to the business. It is a customer that we serve weekly to this day. Not sure where you're from, but many companies look to hire on power only o/o to get them through the busy seasons, then keep the good ones moving year round to retain their services. Very doable, but you have to do your research and knock on doors. As for a career in driving - it will be a tough row to hoe, but if it is what you want to do, work hard, be honest and make yourself as valuable as possible to a few select customers. You'll stay busy.
