Generally speaking from what I read around here trucking company recruiters are not to be trusted. Neither are freight brokerage recruiters lol. All of them just want to make a buck off the sweat on your brow. That's fine, but they need to do their job well. A large % of them will just tell you what you want to hear and hope you give them 6 months.
EDIT: I'm like 90% sure that almost 100% of the practical reason this site exists is for people to share the real situation at trucking companies. There's a very good reason for that.KeepitMovin47, BigBob410, x1Heavy and 1 other person Thank this. -
Multiple unrelated dash lights coming on tells me it's probably a cab controller, or whatever Freightliner calls them. (A "brain", or the wiring harness to it.)
I had a similar situation in an International. It was definitely Christmas. I ran it until actual stuff stopped working. In my case, the air bag dump switch stopped working weeks later. Good luck. Mine spent over a month in different shops, including a dealer shop, before someone figured it out.TruckingSexy and x1Heavy Thank this. -
Is it ok for me to say that I do not roll back on either a manual or automatic? There is a certain amount of inches that roll back might be done and still pass the driving test at the DMV. I was actually dinged two points of a possible 100 in my late 80's Maryland Road Test because my International Cabover's roadranger was in reverse at a light oops. Rolled back about two inches before I corrected that problem on the green.
Out of being snarky, there is a hill east of Bethlehem PA on what I think is route 6. Sitting at the stop sign on that particular hill problem at the T intersection from one of the side roads from the peanut butter and jelly shipper (I forget exactly who... I'll have to look it up... they loaded my sea can with welch and jif... going to Baltimore export. that was a interesting run, one I remember to this day for a variety of reasons.) anyway this stop sign was barely peeking over my hood which was looking at nothing but sky. The trailer's tandem were so far below my point of view it's ridiculous how I had to crane my neck out the window to see them.
I basically hit the trolley, released it knowing I got about 2 seconds to get that power on before she rolled backwards never to be stopped... At the first HISSS into the second PISSSSHHHh I had the clutch eating low gear and 1700 rpm applied to it. She finally grabbed at 1300 and leaned to one side as I kept the fuel pedal on the floor not caring if the tranny fell down to the pavement.
Tractor was a Volvo OTR sleeper tractor with a E model intergrated sleeper. Something like a 350 CAT and a rockwell transmission. It was a fantastic truck for what we had done with it the first winter of my driving dedicated auto glass between GM in Baltimore (Astro vans... ) and Louisville KY where they made windshield glass going to Baltimore. Im pretty sure there are some Astro vans still running out there with glass that we delivered.
That thing made a really onimous CREAK around the 5th wheel area as I came around in the turn as she started rubbing the tops of my drives on the aft drive axle. I don't know about you but those 40 foot trailers with the chassis for ship export (Container... 40 footer in my time was fairly common, prior to the 45's 48's and then the domestic 53's as well as the usual 20 footers...)
I thought that 5th wheel would tear off. It's only had about 4 half inch thick bolts secured by one inch wide nuts to each corner of the 5th wheel plating to frame. 16 bolts total.
Half were loose when I got it to Baltimore. Why I did not hear them snap to this day or tear the 5th wheel off is a mystery.austinmike Thanks this. -

The OP does know how these new trucks are completely controled by the computers and sensors. I'm just saying all the truck are the same. My company got 15 new truck 1 is a lemon and been in the shop liked two weeks already.
If you really switching companies see the f any have a guarantee minimum pay. That what is not problem if the truck is in the shop. Like others said a new truck will also fix the problem
