1. Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

Can somebody explain something to me???

I talked to 21, yes 21, different companies who said they could not hire me because I had no "recent" OTR experience. I drove OTR for 10.5 years then drove a gas tanker around central Ohio for 1.5 years until I was laid off in December. I have over 1.5 million verifiable accident free miles in that time.
One company, I won't say their name but they have blue trailer and are out of Nebraska, told me I would have to go back out with a trainer. The rest of that phone call I can not print here without getting banned.

Seems like the trucking commercials are on a lot more than they use to be. They always come on during the Judge/talk shows lol. I wonder who all were sitting around taking in some baby daddy drama on Maury and got inspired to go trucking? :biggrin_25526:
I was sick this past week so had those shows on quite a bit for entertainment between naps, seemed like every other commercial was for a truck driving school. Gave me a giggle when I saw them displaying an M.S. Carriers truck and trailer cruising down the road. Heck least they could do is make an updated commercial lol...
Good luck to every one out there!

The reason the companies keep hiring new drivers is multi fold, I believe that the main reason is they will work extremely cheap as low as .21 cpm split, and second the new drivers will do anything they're told, even if it is illegal or dangerous, they have not learned to say NO. The schools are still churning them out because there is money to be made and the companies will still hire. I also believe there will always be a need for these reasons and others, but to get to what I believe maybe the just of your question is why do we have to have new drivers out here? This country is growing by leaps and bounds, we must have new drivers to keep up the growth as well as replace the drivers that are leaving for various reasons. It is a good thing to have New Drivers; it gives us someone to tell our stories too.
