buy whatever makes you happy it's your $$$ as stated your antenna is 85to90 percent of your radios efficiency.... a general lee or a connex 3300 hp are very good well established radios

I'm not going to go into a long diatribe about how a cb works, and how radio waves work. If you would read what I wrote it says clearly that modulation dictates how loud you are, watts determine how loud you are at a distance and at what distance you can be heard. As far as being heard throughout the USA, simple, it's called skip. Your signal goes up and bounces off the atmosphere and comes back down. Depending on the WATTS your pushing, dictates if it's a single skip or multiple. There have been numerous times that I can hear someone but the guy a couple miles back or in front can't. Another thing is what kind of ant are they using? Omni directional ant like the antron 99 or a set of beams that they can focus their signal? There are a lot of what ifs to your statement, please get your facts straight before questioning something someone else posts.

oh so your some kind of expert huh.I know what skip is..... some radio's are louder than others alot of galaxy radios are just naturally loud radios.the right carrier is what's needed a 100 watt radio should have a 25 watt deadkey. it's called a 4 to 1 ratio....all radios should do the watts their intended to do no more no less. the right carrier gives you the correct modulation..... get your facts straight. sorry but if a radio pushes more watts than your radio does and your near them... guess what their gonna walk all over you...

so in other words lots of power hungry so called techs like to set the dead key up too high on higher power radios which hurts the performance of that radio and makes it overmodulate... some radios like a cobra 29 you leave stock too get the best performance out of it... a tweakeee pekeee is a waste of your $$$$ pay someone to Jack up whack out your radio for you ...and I definitely am not getting into a long drawn out conversation with you there big shot

Chris is Ontario ca. by the t/a can fix your frequency counter... but like I said a new s6 is highly unlikely nowadays. my s980/350 walks the dog and kicks the cat. just about anytime someone hears it they say oh a big radio. and I say yes sir......

Wow, I was wondering when the typical trucker cb Rambo style of insults were going to come out. And yes I guess you can say that I'm some kind of expert when it comes to cbs since I've been messing around with them since I was little, and not only that but had my ham license up until recently for many years. You have no idea what you are talking about other then what you've been spoon fed or remember from hearing in a bs session at the cb shop. No some radios are not "naturally' louder then others. Modulation is not governed or restricted by the FCC so when the radio comes from the factory they are all wide open. If you have a 25 watt dead key on a 100 watt radio there is something seriously wrong with whoever your getting your info from, a 4 to 1 ratio ?? I can't even argue against that cause it makes no sense, are we talking radios or are we talking about a mixed drink? anyways, maybe in your world what you are saying is making sense, but in the real world it doesn't. Go ahead and try to drive a linear with a 25 watt deadkey if it's not a high drive linear and let me know how the marshmellow roast on what use to be your cb and linear works out for you. Put a 4 watt deadkey into a 100 watt amp and your going to be loud as heck a long way away. Because your loudness comes from modulation, not carrier. I'm done with this thread, so you go ahead and try to sound smarter then you are in my opinion cause anyone with an elementary knowledge of how radio waves propogate will know you have no idea what your talking about. Good day and merry Christmas.( And I know my spelling stinks, I'm a truck driver and huwk on fawnucks didn't work fer me)
