what's the recommended driver for a straight 8 pill a 2 pill look up my linear on this site smokeys cb shop ----world wide amps mine's the ww800 look at the recommended driver for that amp. read the specs. the driver is either a ww80 ww200 or a ww240 amp. and worldwide amps are very well known amps by many truck drivers from back in the day. he built and send them out all over the USA and overseas for many many years
talked to a base station yesterday he was in Detroit mi. I was stationary in Madera ca.on my magnum radio my amp is put away for the winter months.... big deal it was skip... it happens often
it's been upgraded heavily and my amp was installed by a actual amp builder . it's a very clean amp compared to most of the amps built out here... at one time ole x-force was advertising his straight 8 pill could handle a 400 watt dead key ??? all day long it said
Not doubting you, most likely you have a good setup but there is rarely any really good amp builders who take this stuff to the next level around any more, most are parts assemblers and nothing more.
8 x 2sc2879 transistors require 20 watts carrier to drive it on AM. Check the specs. Any more than that looks like this.
my linear works just fine with its Toshiba pills in it. driving 15 watts dead key into it. and even though bird watts show 300 watts on my magnum it's not doing that actual I know better and it's not doing 200 watts rms either. which is what a 2 pill supposedly does. ran that radio/amp that way we'll over a year there big boy with no issues at all
I agree none of these amps are anything to write home about their quality......it's just a toy many of which I own...
works just fine the way I've run it for over a year no complaints from anyone no bleedover whatsoever. like I said never popped a pill in it but then Toshiba pills are a lot tougher than the pills out there that replaced them.on a wavenode this magnum shows me 198.8 watts top gun modulator crap off... that's all the radio probably actually does.. like I've stated and have seen before most radios do not do the watts they supposedly do or they say they do.....lots and lots of b.s. on specs of products out here !!!!
