Nothing against OP but man i would be pissed to, but dont think i would have fired him like that, but we dont know the back story or the situation either. How did you hit a building? This is an ongoing issue you hear about all the time, if it looks to close out the mirror, get you lazy arse out and look before you destroy something. Good luck next time my friend just be a little more careful and chalk it up as a lesson learned.
can they leave me stranded after being fired????

if you think this is bad try being dumped from I.N.S. van in the middle of the desert with nothing but rubber boots.....

Either way, I think it was MORE THAN a simple scrape.
And there is absolutely nothing wrong with kicking you out on the spot. It was after all HIS equipment you also HAVE DAMAGED. For all we know, you opened up the side of that trailer like a sardine can.
Even old, broken down equipment that still at the very least, get's things done, is still needed by the poorest of all trucking companies.
I think the o/p has left out all the information, as I have previously stated, that all drivers tend to down play the severity of the damages.
A gash in the side of a trailer, is nothing at all to some drivers, that carry duct tape with them. All they see is an instant repair. But in actuality, they have caused hundreds of dollars later on, in maybe water damage claims and panel replacements.
Sadly though, with the credit crunch for most of America, not too many of us can easily have a credit card these days.
But I too, always carry at least one with me. An Airline (or bus station or train station, or car rental agency) is never too far away, as I see it. -
60 miles from home?...That aint stranded, that's an hour wait for someone to come get you...
Rackpass 85, misc, dirtyjerz and 10 others Thank this. -
Funny how so many people are saying they would "kick the boss's ###" for firing them & leaving them "stranded" 60 miles from home....but you forget that the company probably has a policy against employees being armed, but the owner of the company probably doesn't abide by that policy. Hypocritical? Yes...but who's going to fire him? He's the boss, and well within his legal right to dictate what policies are in place for his employees in or on any property owned by him.
So, you grab your tire thumper and attempt to "open a can of whoopass" on him and by doing so, you commit felony assault. The second you commit a felony upon him, he is well within his rights to use deadly force against you.

You screwed up & hit the building...and got fired for it. Tuck your tail between your legs & find a ride home....live to drive another day. -
Leaving you stranded 60 miles from home is nothing. At least you were'nt hundreds of miles from home.Accidents happen in trucking and your boss should'nt hsve been so quick to judge by kicking you out of his trk the way he did unless this is'nt the first time and there is more to this story we don't know about.
Gizmo_Man Thanks this. -
Funny how so many people, leave out so many of the "tiniest" of all details!!pattyj Thanks this. -

His version of scrape and the real part may be way different like other posters have stated.
30 feet down the side and you now have a new curtain side trl.. without the curtain. -
IT WAS ONLY A SCRAPE! His boss was being completely irrational! Here is a pic of the trailer...the damage is barely visible!
NewNashGuy, Treefork and LaBubba Thank this.
