Ya what's wrong with that boss,it's hardly noticeable.Just another driver who thought the building was in his way and wanted to make the road a tad bigger but failed miserably, lol.

First of all - WAAAAAAAA, WAAAAAAAAA, WAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH.... 60 miles from home - poor baby! Of course it's not your fault, the building jumped out in front of you. Let's start a fund to compensate you for your massive expenses and huge emotional distress this must have caused you. Did I mention - WAAAAAAAAAAA, WAAAAAAAAA, WAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH.

A couple weeks ago I hired a knucklehead and on his second trip with a 12' wide, 14'6" tall load to Oklahoma he got stopped as he was leaving the delivery. He was carted off to jail and the truck and trailer were towed and impounded. Of course he lied and said he was stopped for a rock hitting a car's window but he actually got stopped for drunk driving by an off duty officer. When he got out of jail he asked to keep his job. I explained to him that what he had done was inexcusable but of course he didn't see it that way. None of it was true or his fault. The reciever who later said he was drunk at delivery was a liar, the broker who said he was beligerent and abusive on the phone was a liar, the person who called the cops on him was a liar. It was originally reported that he had gotten charged with DUI but that was also a lie - he got Public Intoxication because he was falling down drunk outside the truck when the cops arrived - not inside it. He asked if he could get his stuff out of the truck at the impound yard and I told him no, that I could not risk the $4500 BOL required to get paid for the load to dissapear. I told him that he had made his own bed and now he had to sleep in it. When I sent a driver to get the truck the impound yard said that the driver had tried 4 times to bribe them to let him inside the truck, but of course they were lying too. The driver who was sent to recover the truck said he found 7 bottles of whiskey and an empty case of beer cans inside, but guess what - that was a lie too! A few days later this idiot shows up at the office with the cops to get his stuff! After presenting him with a bill for the costs involved due to his gross stupidity the cops shook their heads and left.

My point is that most owners, dispatchers and managers have no idea what kind of lying, twisted, depraved person they have hired until they find out from thier actions in the field. If a driver has a problem out of the gate it is almost always best to get rid of them and move on. It's my experience that things rarely get better and almost always get worse! The quality of the typical driver today is so low that there is not much else you can do but churn them until a few eagles soar above the herd of turkeys!

That sucks. I always make a spare key so i don't get locked out on accident.

It would suck if the truck managed to get parked where it would get towed.

    To the OP,

I have been in that situation with me being about 2500 miles from home. You sure got lucky being only 60miles away. I have no sympathy for you as I believe there were things you could have done to prevent this accident. It is not illegal as others have said. It is common for drivers to be fired many miles from their home. It happens at the mega carriers all the time. If you do get your final paycheck, you are lucky.

Thing he could have done to prevent this was pay attention.I do find this story a little too far fetched to believe. So his boss meets him at the receiver, was it a surprse visit or did boss tell him to wait there and he shows up with another driver so that driver can drive his vehicle while boss takes trk and trl.I think after 10 or so dings boss finally had enough and could'nt afford him on the payroll any longer.
